More on David Sims
Zach Berman, Inquirer Staff Writer
David Sims is the newest addition to the Eagles' roster. The safety spent time with the Giants, Bucaneers and Browns last season, but was never active for a game. Here's what Eagles general Howie Roseman said about Sims:
"Athletic, solid tackler, can play on special teams. He's a guy we've been following throughout the course of the preseason. We played the Browns in the preseason, obviously scouted him a lot before we played that game and happy to acquire him today."
"Right now, he'll back up at those safety spots, and we'll hopefully get him up to speed as quickly as possible."
"He can do a little bit of everything. He can cover. He's 5-9 1/2, so I can't tell you he's going to go cover 6-foot-6 tight ends all the time. But he's got good feet, good athletic ability and he's got a good feel for the game."
Doesn't thrill me. Even as a backup. Until Colt Anderson is healthy, this means Jarrett is first off the bench if either of our safeties get hurt. I think our starting safeties are okay, and have shown flashes of potential but, obviously, this is an area of concern. Someone please tell me how Sims makes us better. Commish
Another Sims on the roster...great we know how the last one worked out. LAEagles
He's got two INTs this preseason, one for a touchdown. He had an INT for a TD against the Eagles that was called back by a bad call. He also never missed a tackle in that game. It's better than having Colt Anderson as our 3rd back up... colahead420
I wonder did they give P. Thomas enough time on the field to do a thorough evaluation. He missed his senior year at Syracuse, so they probably had no reliable tape to base a decision on. gnarlyscuzz
