Michael Vick's fumbling problem must be solved on Sunday, not during the week

POSTED: Wednesday, October 10, 2012, 3:22 PM

Don't expect Michael Vick to fix his fumbling problem during practice. That's because he can't do it in practice -- it comes down to whether he can focus on better ball security on Sunday.

"You have some drills you can create. We have a drill that we do," Vick said. "But it's just being out there on the field. You got to be able to take care of the ball within the moment."

Vick has the most fumbles of any player in the NFL. Until he solves his fumbling problem, he expects opponents to try to strip the ball.

"I expect everybody that gets close to me to be reaching for the football," Vick said. "It's totally my responsibility to take care of the ball and move on, especially for the sake of this football team. It's something I've got to get corrected. I set a goal for interceptions, and I've got to set another goal. That's the least I should be worried about at this point of the season, but that's the situation I created for myself and I definitely got to take care of it."

    To the Eagles fan-
    You may not like this but here it is. In hindsight the greatest day for a Falcons fan was when Mike Vick was suspended and sent to Levinworth. At the time we Falcon fans were in the gutter, we lost our franchise QB, and now we were in trouble. If not for no. 7 and his disgraced exit from the NFL, Mr. Blank would not have hired Mr. Dimitroff, who hired Mike Smith, and who drafted Matt Ryan. We are better off for it. Had it not happened we would still be experiencing the frustrating things you are now continuing to endure. Philly is now dealing with the same issues we had. A QB who at 10 years in the league still cannot read a defense, is not allowed to audible and who can't go though his progressions. He is limited and is not a student of the game. Unfortunately after one good year back as the starter he got his 100 million contract. He is riding Philly like he rode us. He'll get his money and he won't put in the time to get better. All the while the organization and he make excuses for his lack of progress. You hope he gets better, but you know what...he isn't. Like Mora said, "Mike Vike is a coach killer." Sorry Philly, you dreamed of better things that will not be.

    @Rob_Rocker

    I live in ATL bruh..the Falcons have become the regular season kings since "Ice" got there, but that noodle arm of his cannot win in the playoffs.

    Falcons ain't won sh&@ since #7 left...and the dome isn't full either since #7 left.

    Enjoy your regular season success. Vick puts in the time here in philly. In ATl, he did not, and he still lifted the franchise to higher heights than "Ice" ever will.

    @Rob_Rocker,

    You are HILARIOUS!! You're bragging about a QB who hasn't won a single playoff game in his career. If Vick is so bad, then Ryan must be horrible. Mike has won playoff games with far less receiving talent than Matt Ryan currently has. Last year, with two studs @ receiver, he was able to score a grand total of ??? Oh I'm sorry, that TWO POINTS was scored by the defense. Um......Next Example please.

    Elijah: I think Ryan's arm strength, while not in the category of Jay Cutler or Aaron Rogers, is plenty good enough, and I think he's gonna deliver for you folks in the playoffs starting this year.

    Regarding Vick, love him or not (and personally I don't think he will lead the eagles to a Super Bowl), you have to admire they way he stands before the media and takes his medicine; also, he accepts full responsibility for his mistakes. I say the man has grown a lot. I just worry about the way his brain is getting rattled around with all the hits he takes... he could be well on his way to becoming another Jim McMahon.

    Uhh....Vick doesn't always accept responsibility. For example, did you hear how Vick, when asked about why he's been fumbling:

    "Everything happens for a reason, and if it was meant to be, I wouldn't have fumbled at the goal line". Basically saying it was the Will-Of-The-Football-Gods, and not his careless handling and forward diving habits.

    Don't get me wrong, I like Vick, oddly/ironically enough, "as a person" (LoL). He's so much better for team moral than the SpoiledBaby/MommasBoy/InsecureHeadCase/ThrowMyTeamatesUnderTheBus joke that McNabb was. But as football player, Vick is a terrible.

    Vick sucks - move on!
    With all this talent who needs a real defensive coordinator?
