Michael Vick suffered 'pretty significant' concussion, Nick Foles likely to start vs. Redskins
Zach Berman, Inquirer Staff Writer
Michael Vick has what coach Andy Reid termed a "pretty significant" concussion. Although Vick has not been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins, it appears like rookie Nick Foles will start his first game.
"We'll go through the protocol here, I'll just tell you it was a pretty good one," Reid said.
Reid believes the concussion happened on Vick's final snap. He said Vick was "a little foggy" on Sunday night.
"He's resting right now," Reid said. "This period, it's very important that he rests."
Reid said Vick will not practice on Wednesday. Foles will get the first-team snaps, and must work on the silent count in preparing to play in Washington.
"He did a nice job in keeping his eyes down the field when he was under the pressure," Reid said. "There were a couple plays he'd like to have back. I thought he got the ball out on time. He handled the pressure well when it was in his face."
Reid expects to know Vick's status within the next few days.
"What I'm tell you now is it's a significant concussion," Reid said.
**Jason Avant has a hamstring strain and likely won't play this week. Jeremy Maclin has a low back strain, and is "pretty sore" on Monday. There's no word yet for Sunday's game. Mardy Gilyard is making progress, but likely won't play this week. Running back Chris Polk is still sore with a turf toe.
**Danny Watkins might practice and play this week. Lateral cutting is the issue with him right now. If he does return, there's no word on other changes on the offensive line, but Dennis Kelly could slide over to tackle.
Moronwigs had a significant concussion for the past 10 years now. 14 years of
Let's face it: unless Foles gets hurt, Vick should never play another down for the Eagles. Foles needs to get the reps, and management needs to see if he is able to play. We don't need another Bobby Hoying. (Historical note: Hoying was the 85th overall pick in the draft; Foles was 88th overall.) HolidayinCambodia- Joe Montana was the 82nd.

Holy cow!
If you read the columns today, both writers and posters are jumping all over Foles with the he's not the Messiah stuff.
Jesus, no wonder athletes hate to play in Philadelphia.
The kid plays one half of one game and now it's time to denigrate his ability too banned
GOODBYE YOU ARROGANT SOB. AND ON YOUR WAY OUT KING ANDY, PLEASE BE SURE TO TAKE YOUR KNOW-NOTHING APOLOGISTS (tpizza, laughingaloud123, tneaglesfan, callyouout, etc.) WITH YOU. bedpan- ry ydol, head it works wonders...

What's the big deal?
Dennis kelly coudn't move laterally if you put him on a hand truck. banned
@14... I do not believe you. I think that you need a brain before you can get a concussion. WHat am I saying? Mornhinweg was so brilliant in Detroit. I mean, it takes a special coach to compile a 5-27 record. I can see why Andy wnated to bring a little of that magic to the eagles offense. Can't wait for 14 more years. chris_r- And FOURTEEN more years is what we may get as long as ol' Limp-Wrist is the owner. Or...he could change up, under the direct orders of King Andy, and appointment Moronweg as the next Head Coach. Now wouldn't that be cause for celebration up and down Broad Street? essell
Considering how bad Bell and Dunlap were, Foles actually did fine. Now he faces a redskins team that is every bit as bad as the Eagles, so it'll be interesting to see how he handles his first start. drbob1
well the skins have rg3 and a decent receiver. im betting foles has a great game and to banned i couldnt agree with you anymore sad he is a rookie got thrown in there with no practice and did pretty damn good but since he didnt win the game he is no good. we dont know that yet nor do these writers most of them are vick supporters and want foles to do equally as bad so he doesnt make their favorite qb look bad. even in the loss he made vick look bad to me seemed like he got the ball out quicker to quick on certain occasions but those mistakes will be limited with more practice. how did we get that second touchdown when henry missed the extra point? i dont remember but i keep reading foles only had one touchdown pass. defroe
Wow, the negativity for Foles is staggering. I saw a lot of promise in his first outing. You can't expect perfection right out of the gate. Even Andrew Luck and the great RG3 are showing difficulty. Anyone that is down on Foles is either stupid or racist. The latter wouldn't surprise me. Truth hurts, don't it? voodoochile75- You're stupid for mentioning the race card. This isn't pee wee...NFL backups must be ready to take a job. Brady stepped in with no reps when Bledsoe went down. Frank Reich stepped in with no reps for a hurt Kelly in a playoff game & overcame a 24 pt Oilers lead. Foles gave Dallas 14 pts off turnovers. Foles failed to Carpe Diem!

With no first team reps and being thrown in there as a rookie Foles has a higher rating then 10 year veteran, 100m contract Mike Vick. No idea if Foles can play QB in this league but we know Vick can not. Sidewinder7
