McNabb insists he'll be back

Donovan McNabb remains convinced that he will remain an Eagle.

Furthermore, he insists that's exactly what he wants.

After practicing with the other players on the NFC roster this morning at a Fort Lauderdale High School, McNabb was surrounded by a large media gathering here to cover the Pro Bowl.

In a later one-on-one interview with the Inquirer, McNabb said he takes Eagles coach Andy Reid at his word when he says he will return next season as the team's starting quarterback.

"That's all that matters," McNabb said. "I heard it when he said it to you guys, but I heard it before anyway. I think a lot of people look too far into things with all the assumptions about what could happen. (Reid) told everybody I'm going to be there and I'm his guy. I don't see anything that anybody else should look into."

McNabb also said he wants to be in Philadelphia even though he's about to endure another offseason debate about whether or not he should remain the Eagles' quarterback. He said that doesn't bother him in the least.

"It really doesn't," McNabb said. "What's wild about it is when you go somewhere, that's what everybody brings up: 'Hey, man, where you going to be?' "

McNabb said his answer is always the same: "Uh, Philly."

"It would only affect you if you allow it to," McNabb said. "This isn't my first go-around with it. I've been going through this the last three or four years."

Unlike a year ago after the season ended, McNabb is not lobbying for a contract extension or alteration even though he's about to enter the last year of his current deal.

"I don't think we should really focus on that," McNabb said. "I love playing the game and that's what it comes down to. I am under contract for another year. We don't know what's going to happen in 2011. We just don't know. If I have to come back and play (in Philadelphia), hey that's great. I would love to. I love this team and I love being around these guys and competing. I think good things could happen for us."

McNabb insisted that he has never given much thought to playing elsewhere.

"No," he said. "I let other people think about that. For me, the grass being greener is really what field you're playing on. When you're in Philadelphia, obviously, there are ups and there are downs. I've been a part of it for 11 years, so I don't let it affect me."

Even though the Eagles' season ended with consecutive lopsided losses to the Dallas Cowboys, McNabb believes this team could still be a Super Bowl contender in 2010.

"We're not far away at all," McNabb said. "We went on a six-game winning streak, we made good things happen with an explosive offense, the defense came around, everybody started playing well and then those two games hit, which was unfortuate. But it happens. It happened to us against the Cowboys, it happened to the Cowboys against Minnesota and to Minnesota against the Saints."

McNabb's a chump. He simply does not have heart. People keep saying oh it's a team effort team team team. The Colts without Peyton Manning seriously might be an under 500 team, and the Saints without Drew Brees would be average. Tom Brady 3 trophies, Roethlisberger 2, Manning about to have 2.Kurt Warner 3 SB appearances 1 ring. This is just within the last 10 years. These guys come up big in the clutch when the game is on the line unlike #5.

I will repeat. This board is filled with idiots. McNabb might stay. He might be traded. We will see. But the way people describe the Eagles during the last 11 years as "failures" are just silly. On what scale? On one side they crush Banner for saying they have th ebest roster. Then they call a playoff team "underachievers"

Be careful what you wish for Eagle fans. Remember what it was like before McNabb? Now you think you can just plug in any QB and you'll make it to 5 NFC Championship games and a SB. Doesn't happen that way. Just ask Cleveland, Cincy, Detroit, Oakland and any number of other NFL cities that would kill for the success the Eagles have had. Sure you want to win the SB, who doesn't? But it takes more than a QB to make a team and win a championship. Sure you're tired of McNabb's antics, but the first time Kolb throws a game-ending pick, you'll be all over him too.

i'm not watching the eagles again until he's gone. i'd rather watch a movie. nest time he throws a football into the dirt again it'd better be for another team.

McNabb haters, do you ever wonder if things would be different if maybe another player stepped up during big games as well as McNabb? Like, what if Westbrook catches that pass that hit him right in the hands during the last drive of the SB? Or if Dawkins makes a big fumble inducing hit or INT during one of those NFC Championship games? Or maybe Maclin can make a slight adjustment and catch a ball thats slightly behind him? I can go on, but you are all so focused on McNabb that you won't even see my point. It takes more than 1 player to win or lose a game.

Mcnabb is placing Reid on the spot. After his comments, if Reid doesnt start him he will call him a liar. He is playing reid.

Never listen to what Donovan says. I tried to put on my beer goggle pom poms and blindly cheer for him this year. He lacks in many areas. Being a field general is #1. I'm tired of it all...... Up here in NYC, people think we're nuts about our stance on Donovan. You have to look past the numbers. I'll take a little less flash and more completions to a receiver in motion who doesn't have to stop, stoop, or turn around to grab the ball. Bring on Randall Tex Kolb. He looks jerky with a little fire...

McNabb is a failure(wtf) Check his stats.. It's amazing how when the Eagles are doing well, everyone loves #5 but when the Eagles lose, he's a failure. Right now, he's the best the Eagles have. Should they go with Kolb, the Eagles and the Redskins will swap places. Kolb isn't ready for primetime yet.If the Eagles do trade him, I hope he crushes them when his team plays them. Their failures came from incosistent play in ALL aspects. If the O Line was healthy and we actually had some decent players on defense, the Eagles would have been more successful.

Donovan is NOT the problem. Andy Reid's disinterst in developing a run game to SUPPORT the passing game is what keeps the Eagles from advancing.

They need to send him to the Vikings. That's one win in the bank. Facing his old team, he will be doing air guitar and goofy dancing trying to act like its just another game in between running to the rest room and vomiting.

i truly wish that most people that post their small minded thinking had a clue that the eagles were a weak team from the start reids idea of the west coast offense stinks i live here in northern Cal since 1980 when the great late mr Bill Walsh ran the true west coast offense and had a great defense if anyone should go its reid Mcnabb is not suited for this pass your gas offense that will never win a superbowl reid is locked on stupid small D Line weak O LINE no running game poor clock mangt keep looking for the fall guy look at the fat one caio
