McNabb benching: Eagles draft pick not affected
The Donovan McNabb benching will not affect what draft pick the Eagles get back from the Redskins. The trade conditions related to McNabb's playing time were already moot.
The Eagles would get a third round pick -- instead of a fourth -- on two conditions.
1) McNabb made the Pro Bowl or
2) He played 70 percent of the Redskins snaps AND they won nine games or made the playoffs.
The Redskins won't win nine or reach the postseason, so the percentage issue is irrelevant.
Theoretically, the Eagles could still get a third round pick if McNabb somehow reaches the Pro Bowl. But let's just say that's a long shot.

Not sure this would have mattered even if McNabb made the Pro Bowl. Roseman would have traded the 3rd rounder for a 4th, plus a 7th next year. And if Jamar Chaney turns out well, Roseman may just concentrate on 6th and 7th rounders from now on, and deal away all of the early round picks. If the Skins give us a fourth rounder, the Eagles brass might actually use the pick. It's a win-win for both teams.— tacklinjoe

Sworrell, I couldn't agree more. Let's rally the troops to get Don in the Pro Bowl to spite the Redskins. Not only do a lot of people like McNabb but a lot more dislike the Redskins. How great would it be if we could get Don into the Pro Bowl after he was benched?

@Richard Saunders - is posting your reply four times representing the number of MVP votes you cast? I'm with you. Get him an MVP nod so we can preserve our draft pick from the Skins, plus rub it in Shanny's face.- I agree with the agent representing McNabb, that the treatment he has received from the Washington Redskins managment is beyond aprehension. I am not a Washington Redskins's fan, but because of McNabb, I would watch their games when they were available in my area, and game after game, I would see the receivers drop their passes and run the wrong patterns, and hardly ever come back for the ball, or consistently watch the play to see if they needed to come back for the ball from their supposedly original pattern. I think when a team is going south, it looks for a scapegoat, and McNabb was easy picking. He has not had the talent he had to work with in Philadelphia, nor has he had the coaching staff he had with the Eagles! The Eagles would do well to get his contract back, and keep him in the ready reserve if that is possible. Green Bay would also do well to try and extracate him from D.C. if they have any chance of going deep into the play-offs with their QB questionable for the rest of the season. It will be interesting to see in the Redskins can win any one of their three remaining games. If they do not, with McNabb sitting it out, who will they blame next?— boggie
