Despite claims that he was indeed playing in Sunday's season finale, Eagles running back LeSean McCoy will be inactive against the Redskins.

Eagles coach Andy Reid -- and McCoy -- both said Friday that he would play and attempt to go for the NFL rushing title despite a slight ankle sprain. Apparently, sometime between then and now Reid decided to sit the Pro Bowl tailback.

Ronnie Brown will start in place of McCoy.

The Eagles' other inactives are: cornerback Asante Samuel, defensive tackle Mike Patterson, defensive tackle Cedric Thornton, guard Julian Vandervelde, wide receiver Ron Johnson and linebacker Greg Lloyd.

Other than McCoy, Samuel (hamstring strain) is the only injured player among the group of inactives. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, as expected, will start in place of Samuel at left cornerback. Mike Patterson is out with the flu. Trevor Laws is starting for Patterson.

Now, if DeSean is assigned to fields all punts and run routes over the middle, then the FO's intentions will be obvious. :-D

Great season by Shady this year. Because of what he was doing on the field, Shady forced Marty and Reid to call more plays for him and changed the gameplans all together.

Hard to say that's wrong to do not knowing what is wrong. Why risk one of the best RBs in the NFL? His health is more important than one meaningless game against the Skins.

Could see him wanting to play if the rushing title was in reach but since he is trailing by 128 yds and MJD is playing against Indy it really isn't a realistic chance that he could get it. But why Ron Brown? Just to get to 8-8? Play Lewis and see what you have. This is basically an exibition game anyway. Even Kafka should play.

Are you people insane? For McCoy not to play today is criminal to anybody who paid money to go to this game. If the Eagles provided rebates to those who purchased tickets, then it would be fine. Otherwise, it's a disgrace.

So truth, should the Colts have given refunds to all of the season ticket holders?...Go root for the Cowgirls. We had a down season...we'll be back.

No respect for the people who paid to see the game. Typical attitude from this staff and front office. And yet we keep coming back for more. Down seasons happen but they won't do anything to make the fan base happy this off season except draft some high motor guys who can't play. Will give us something to complain about.

"Will give us something to complain about."
Ssteve 115 might be on to something here. Maybe the Eagles' brass have figured out the darkest nature of us Philly fans. Namely, we are happiest and mot content when we have something to complain about, not when our team wins.
