Eagles losing leverage with Kolb?

POSTED: Tuesday, July 26, 2011, 12:54 PM

Which trade would you most like to see?
For the Eagles, a cornerback
For the Phillies, a righthanded bat
For the Sixers, a big-time scorer
For the Flyers ... no more trades, please

Kevin Kolb is still an Eagle.

Many expected the Eagles to deal their backup quarterback once 10 a.m. Tuesday rolled around, but the Kolb trade situation remains very fluid and could stretch into tomorrow, an NFL source said.

The Cardinals are still the leading candidates to land the 26-year-old, but it remains to be seen if they can partner up with the Eagles and make a deal. The Eagles might have lost significant leverage after it was reported that the Seattle had acquired free agent quarterback Tarvaris Jackson. A deal cannot be officially announced until Friday.

Earlier in the day, a league source said not to "sleep on Seattle" in reference to the team's interest in Kolb. Other sources intimated that the Seahawks were never really players for Kolb. They signed Jackson to to start, so the market for Kolb just shrunk considerably.

Arizona was apparently set to trade cornerback Domininque Rodgers-Cromartie for Kolb straight up, but the Eagles are reportedly also in search of a first-round draft pick, according to NFL Network. Still, the Cardinals are the likely landing spot, the Eagles just may not get as much in return as they hoped.

Or maybe Kolb stays with the Eagles.

"I wouldn't be surprised at all," Eagles quarterback Michael Vick said. "To have him here is obviously an asset to this team. ... However it plays out we'll have him."

It seems unlikely that the Eagles would pull the rug from out under Kolb and not trade him. It'll be interesting to see if they require Kolb to report for training camp tomorrow if he's still under contract. But all signs still point to a deal at some point.

    A) I don't see anyplace where it said "Seattel"
    B) Get a life! Seriously! Some people have nothing better to do with their time than to wait for a spelling or grammar mistake and then jump on it...So silly!

Joe "Nickels" Banner doesn't want to take on the salary of a first-round pick. How about a 2nd rounder and three 6th-rounders in 2013?

Uh, guys...a first round pick isn't going to make as much now as he used to. And the salary floor is almost as high as the salary cap. All the "Nickels" jokes are even more wrong now than they used to be. Which is saying something.
