Jeremy Maclin: 'I've done everything since April 21st'

The Eagles have now had 11 practices this spring, and Jeremy Maclin has apparently gone through each one without an issue. The Eagles’ top wide receiver tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee last July, but he has been a full participant this spring and does not believe has lingering effects from the injury.

“I’ve done everything since April 21st, when we were able to get out here as a team,” Maclin said. “I’ve been getting better each and every day, and I’m really happy with my progress.”

And it’s not just Maclin talking. Quarterback Nick Foles said he thinks Maclin is “better” than before the injury, explaining that Maclin has more strength. Coach Chip Kelly has played Maclin without restrictions and has not seen any limitations.

“He's been cleared to do everything and has not missed anything,” Kelly said.

Maclin has not endured contact, but he has fallen to the ground. In those moments, he said his mind does not wander to the knee – even if the minds of others do. At one point earlier this spring, the practice hushed after Maclin fell to the ground, where he remained for a few seconds. He walked off the field on his power, but the silence illustrated the concern.

“You can’t think like that, because the  minute you go out there timid, that’s when something bad happens,” Maclin said. “I feel good, I don’t feel I lost a step, and I’m getting in and out of breaks well.”

Maclin has tested himself. He usually lines up on the right side and has been able to plant off his foot and explode. He has not timed himself, but he said he feels faster.

“As far as all the routes, I’m doing them all,” Maclin said. “We’ve had plays where I’ve had to stretch out and dig a little bit, and I’ve made those plays. I think the next step is just getting tackled.”
