Honors for Kolb and Jackson

POSTED: Wednesday, September 30, 2009, 2:44 PM

Quarterback Kevin Kolb was named NFC offensive player of the week for his performance against the Chiefs last week and wide receiver DeSean Jackson will be named NFC special teams player of the month for September.

Jackson opened the season with an 85-yard punt return for a touchdown against the Panthers and leads the NFL in punt return average (22.2).

-- Kolb completed 24 of 34 passes (70.6 percent) for 327 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions for a 120.6 passer rating in the Eagles’ 34-14 win over Kansas City.  Kolb also scored on a rushing touchdown, the first of his career.

-- He became the first quarterback in NFL history to pass for 300 yards in each of his first two career starts.  In Week 2, Kolb passed for 391 yards against New Orleans.

-- He threw a 64-yard touchdown pass to Jackson, the second consecutive game the duo has combined for a 60+ yard score.  The last Eagles duo to connect on 60+ yard touchdowns in back-to-back games was QB Ron Jaworski and wide receiver Mike Quick in 1985.

-- In his third season from Houston, this is Kolb’s first career Player of the Week Award.

-- Kolb is the sixth Eagles quarterback to be honored and the first since Donovan McNabb in 2004 (Week 13).

the only games mcnabb goes off passing yarding wise are when he throws multiple screens to westbrook that he turns into major yards. they dont have kolb callin screens every thrird play cause the kid can drop back and release the ball quick and accurately. so please no need to compare recievers its what mcnabb cant do versus what kolb can

Praise him now,he looked horrible againt a good team i.e the Saint but now he's the best because he beats the Chiefs...come on Eagle fans.Yes Kolb is the furture QB of this team but right now as Andy always says McNabb is our QB! honestly he is our best shot to get to the superbowl sorry but Kolb can't do that just yet, he's a solid backup but not ready to take over the reins yet
    hello McNabb haters

MTsmurf and his revisionist history. McNabb is a threat because he can go downfield as well as throw the screens to Westbrook. I guess you don't remember the 6 passes of 65 yds or more for TD's last year (with majority in the air, and not with Jackson's legs.) Kold played well, but don't tell me that DJax didn't make the play on a ball thrown behind him to the point he turned around to catch the ball, yet still had time to run the rest of the way. The Eagles must have had some GREAT receivers throught McNabb's career to be able to catch so many poorly thrown balls........ The accuracy argument is getting old. I see why your name is smurf.

Not bashing Kolb, but stating a fact. You can't compare what Kevin is doing right now to what McNabb did in his first few starts. This is a much better team than what D-Mac had to work with. Donovan's whole career has basically been taking turds and making them shine. Now they have legitimate offensive weapons not named Westbrook and it is making the QB's look better. Good for both of the QB's.

e-nutt, in wiff's case, once an idiot always an idiot. He takes glee in a 24 point loss and a win over a JV team. He has so little let him be. He doesn't realize the real fans are just glad we managed to get through one for one and DM is coming back. He doesn't realize we are GLAD KK managed to beat that powerhouse KC team and he still has to compare a 3 year vet's 1st game against a rookies first game, as if that matters at all even though DM won and KK lost. That's an argument?. He thinks because KK had more yards than DM in his first game that means something. HE WAS BLOWN OUT and was on a far superior team. It doesn't matter though, he just comes up with more BS and distortions and than wonders why no one is responding? Why bother? Same old BS from the master manure spreader. And worse, he is boring. He doesn't even inspire a good argument anymore. Keep trying wiff, you're pressing though. Hahahahaha, still a mope.

Can't we all just agree we have a solid backup and a pro bowl starter. Kolb did what was asked of him beat a team your suppose to beat, get us to the break with a win. Now we have two weeks until our starting PRO-BOWL QB get back and lead us as far as he can take us, as he always did. Hopefully he'll have more help in the running game this championship. Check the stats in all five of those loses tell me what running rushed for a hundred yards. Let's not kid ourselves, Kevin Curtis ended our season last year not Donovan.

LJL -That's funny, I remember TO catching a lot of MaNabb passes when he was here(many for TDs). Face it, McNabb hasn't exactly had a lot of top tier targets to throw to over the years, but still managed to be productive. Don't get me wrong, I loved that Kolb had two good starts, but the minute he falls(this year, next year, who knows...), "fans" won't be able to jump off the bandwagon fast enough.
