We knew it would be a long shot for Stewart Bradley to play Sunday, and that Max Jean-Gilles' status was up in the air after he sprained his ankle against the Cowboys, but more surprising -- and worrying -- is that guard Todd Herremans did not practice Thursday.

UPDATE: The guard was fine entering this week, but "tweaked" his calf in the Wednesday morning walk through, Andy Reid said Thursday. Reid said he expects Herremans will be OK for Sunday.

He was listed as limited Wednesday (when practice was largely closed to the media).

His absence Thursday, days before a playoff game where pass protection will be crucial, is something to watch, though it would be a shock if Herremans doesn't fight through whatever injury he has in order to play. He has been one of the Eagles best linemen this year and is vitally important to both the passing and running games.

How will the Eagles fare in the playoff opener against the Packers?
The Birds will win big.
They’ll win — barely.
The Pack will prevail.

If Herremans and Jean-Gilles are out, the Eagles could face a fierce Packers blitz with back up guards Nick Cole and Reggie Wells forming two-fifths of the line. Not a pleasant thought for Eagles fans.

Bradley's absence was expected, since Reid said Monday it would be a "stretch" for the linebacker to return this week. Expect to see Jamar Chaney in the middle for the defense.
