Giants' Tuck: "Last year will linger with me until I die"

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ -- The mood in the New York Giants' locker room is that they owe the Eagles some payback when the teams meet this coming Sunday at 1 p.m. at Lincoln Financial Field.

Shortly after beating the St. Louis Rams, 28-16 on Monday night at MetLife Stadium, Giants defensive lineman Justin Tuck talked about last season’s 38-31 loss to the Eagles in which New York squandered a 31-10 lead midway through the fourth quarter. That loss eventually knocked the Giants out of the playoffs. They finished 10-6.

"Last year will linger with me until I die," Tuck said.

Counting the postseason, the Eagles have beaten the Giants six consecutive times.

Tuck hopes that Michael Vick can play on Sunday for the Eagles. Vick’s status is uncertain after suffering a concussion in Sunday’s 35-31 loss at Atlanta.

"Yes, why not," said Tuck when asked if he hopes Vick plays. "I mean, that guy is a tremendous athlete. Obviously as he goes and that offense goes, you always want to beat teams at their best."

Tuck said when a player of Vick’s caliber is unable to go, it could cause a letdown – by the opposition.

"I think he brings out the best in us too," Tuck said. "Maybe we go down there and he’s not in there and we think we got this won. If he’s playing, we know we have to be on our toes."

But not wanting to offend any potential replacements, Tuck added: "We all know that Philadelphia is a great football team. We’re going to have a great game regardless of if Vick plays or not."
