Weaver named first-team All-Pro

POSTED: Thursday, January 14, 2010, 11:29 AM

Eagles fullback Leonard Weaver was voted a first-team All-Pro by the Associated Press and four others were voted to the second team.

Weaver, who is likely to be a restricted free agent when the new league year begins in March, had a career-best season with 70 rushes for 323 yards and 15 catches for 140 yards. He also scored four touchdowns.

The quartet of second-team All-Pros includes defensive end Trent Cole, punt returner DeSean Jackson, cornerback Asante Samuel and kicker David Akers.

Weaver IS really good...most importantly he blocks well too. Trent Cole last seen face down in Cowboys Stadium...

Sign Weaver to a long-term deal.

Nothing like the old "who cares" post by someone who obviously "cares" because they clicked on the link, read the blog post and then submitted a comment. Always good for a laugh.

Too bad Samuel gets rewarded for his 'selfish, nose in the next zip code, give up tons of plays in return for the occasional pick' brand of play.

If he is so good why didn't they get him the ball more often ? Oh that's right so many weapons so little time.. After blaming Andy Reid throughout the year for his pass happy scheme I realized something. The O line injuries had a major impact on what the Eagles could do towards the end of the year when it counted.

I thought he signed a one year deal? What makes it likely he will be a restricted free agent? i do hope they resign him. He is tough and I think he could emerge as an offensive leader like a Mike Alstott, especially if DM leaves. However, that move in the Bronco game was a classic blunder.

Wow. Brian Dawkins made 2nd team all pro at safety and Macho Harris didn't! Another name missing, Andy Reid's "best left tackle in the NFL" Jason Peters.

Anybody else feel embarrassed by the selections from a team that got it's (collective) head handed to them by the Cows...THREE TIMES??

dont call me crazy guys. but i think they should convert weaver to a running back. somehow get a blocking fullback and let weaver be our big back. kinda like brandon jacobs. just a thought
