Former Eagle and current Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte’ Stallworth will serve 30 days in jail after pleading guilty in Florida to a DUI manslaughter charge, The Associated Press reported today.
The plea deal calls for the 28-year-old Stallworth to also serve 10 years’ probation and do 1,000 community service hours for killing a pedestrian he hit with his car. Stallworth had faced up to 15 years in prison.
Police say Stallworth was drinking at a hotel bar before the March 14 crash that killed 59-year-old construction worker Mario Reyes. Tests showed Stallworth’s blood-alcohol content was .126.
Stallworth also reached a confidential financial settlement with the Reyes’ family. A person close to the negotiations told The Association Press about the agreement on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk about the deal.

Stallworth made a mistake... a HUGE mistake. The guy that was killed was walking on a highway in the dark if I remember correctly. Stallworth didn't run, he admitted guilt, he is serving jailtime, he is not getting a special break because of his fame. There are normal people who have done worse and gotten less. stblindtiger
I'm done recycling. This world needs to end. mikerainey82
Hew blew a .126, he should get two years for staying conscious after that! phillynupe4
the victims family wanted this over with also soliteryman
.126 = 4 drinks in an hour. BigDawg13
Mike Vick got a year for killing dogs........ Donte Stallworth gets 30 days for killing a person..... ONLY IN AMERICIA!!!! brobbins78
So let me get this straight you kill a man while drunk you get 30days in jail and 1000 hours of community service plus no protests about not being able to play in the NFL again. But if you breed pitbulls to fight you get 23 months in jail and protesters screaming about you should not be allowed to play football again. Am I the only one who thinks this is wrong? cusoraider
stblindtiger- He was legally drunk. He should be lucky he's only serving 30 days. phillychaos
"I'm done recycling. This world needs to end." Ha! Richard Saunders
Does a construction worker get to go back to work? A dentist? A waiter? Why not Stallworth and Vick? That's what these people do. I just hope they don't get their old salaries. elektrika
larry mendte got into more trouble for being creepy; snooping around emails. mike vick is a sick dude, but like someone said; DOGS! martha stewart was a smart business woman; dishonest but smart, and got hammered for it. there's probably more people who have done less and been punished far worse..... i dont understand this. people do thirty days for 1st offense dui's in some surrounding counties. this is a crazy agreement. referees
Both men were in the wrong. Reyes was jaywalking and Stallworth was DUI. A convergence of mistakes cost one man his life. But Stallworth can help the surviving family much more if he is working for a living in the NFL instead of "busting bricks" or whatever they do these days in the County Jails in Florida. It's enough to see one life ended. Why two? Stallworth didn't set out to hurt anyone. And that's the key point when you compare him to Vick as well... the criminal intent was absent in Stallworth's case. Chuckle Berry
Unbelievable.... phigglesfan75
