In a case of we'll take your underperforming running back for ours, the Eagles announced that they have traded Mike Bell to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for Jerome Harrison.

Harrison, 5-foot-9 and 205-pounds, had 31 carries for 91 yards (2.9 ypc) and four catches for 42 yards in four games for the Browns. The 27-year-old ran for 862 yards off 194 totes (4.4) and scored five rushing touchdowns a season ago.

Most of those yards came in the final three games of the season when he rushed for 561 yards and scored all five of his TDs. He ran for 286 yards -- third highest in league history -- against the Kansas City Chiefs on Dec. 20.

He also caught 34 passes for 220 yards in 2009.

Harrison, though, lost his starting spot to Peyton Hillis, who is among the NFL leaders in rushing.

Bell, signed as a restricted free agent in the off-season, struggled for the Eagles. He had 16 carries for 28 yards (1.8 ypc) in five games. Bell, who played for the Super Bowl champion Saints, was the only restricted free agent to switch teams in the off-season.

Since Tom Heckert left the Eagles to take the general manager job with the Browns, he and his former team have made now made three deals together. The first occured in April when the Eagles sent cornerback Sheldon Brown and linebacker Chris Gocong to Cleveland in exchange for linebacker Alex Hall and fourth and fifth round picks. Hall was released during training camp.

The second came when the Eagles traded away a 2010 second round draft pick for three Browns' picks.
