Eagles to sign CFL DE Hunt, confirm Harbor surgery

POSTED: Friday, February 11, 2011, 2:49 PM

The Eagles expect to sign defensive end Phillip Hunt, who led the Canadian Football League in sacks last season with 16. They play an 18 game season. Hunt was at the NovaCare Complex Friday taking a physical.

Hunt played at the University of Houston and has been in the CFL with Winnipeg for the past two seasons. He worked out for the Eagles, Browns and Patriots in December. At 6-feet tall and 248 pounds he fits the physical mold that the Eagles look for in pass rushers.

The team also confirmed that tight end Clay Harbor had offseason surgery for a sports hernia. The Eagles did not provide a timetable for his recovery but the rehabilitation period is usually around four to eight weeks, meaning Harbor would be ready for off-season practices, if there are any.

This guy will never make the team! he's too big, at 248 lbs. first thing he needs to do is go on a diet and get down to about 190-195 if he wants to keep playing the DE position. 2nd thing he needs to do is lay down in the driveway and have someone run over both his legs, hopefully shattering both knee caps. Then have major reconstructive surgery. 3rd he needs to reenter the draft and go undrafted.i hope he reads this and takes my advice.....otherwise he's got no chance!

In a 3-4 the primary pash rushers are the outside linebackers. They usually run in the 230 to 260 weight range. As one of the primary pass rushers in the 4-3 why do you consider this guy undersized? He is basically an outside LB in a 3 point stance.
