Eagles take care of business

POSTED: Sunday, September 26, 2010, 7:15 PM

Behind another strong start from Michael Vick, the Eagles brushed aside the Jaguars, beating an inferior opponent for the second consecutive week.

Vick went 17 for 31 passing, for 291 yards and three touchdowns and a 119.2 passer rating. For the second week in a row, he led the Eagles to several explosive plays while avoiding turn overs.

Against a punchless Jaguars team, the game really felt like it might be over after one half. The Eagles took a 14-3 lead on their final drive of the second quarter, and it seemed unlikely that Jacksonville could catch up. Vick added a 45-yard touchdown pass to Maclin and a 17-yard scoring run in the third quarter to put the game completely out of reach.

With Sean McDermott's defense playing a complete game for the first time this year, and a variety of Eagles applying quarterback pressure -- including Brandon Graham, Trent Cole, Juqua Parker and even Trevor Laws and Darryl Tapp -- the Jaguars were stifled.

A big piece of NFL success hinges on beating the few truly weak teams on a schedule, and the Eagles did that Sunday. Tougher tests will be coming, but so far the team has thrived with Vick.

Andy Reid might have looked like a flip-flopper during the week, but with Vick's performance today, he also looked right.

Vick is starting to look more and more like a complete QB. I've always said it will be scary when he learns to pass from the pocket adding to his ability to run and now it looks like thats happening. Next Sunday get you popcorn ready it going to be a good one.

@jagn7, can you imagine Dawk as a DBs coach even as the assistant, maybe he'd smack some toughness into the group and he'd be a great mentor for Allen.

Bottom line is NONE of you geniuses can predict this teams record this year...nothing in the NFC has gone according to plan. So you so called "masterminds" care to explain to me how you can give me a win-loss prediction at this juncture??..your pie hole is pushing nothing but bullsheet....you have no idea what their record will be, no one does.
