Eagles sign Te'o-Nesheim

POSTED: Wednesday, June 16, 2010, 12:22 PM

The Eagles have signed defensive end Daniel Te'o-Nesheim, their third round draft pick. He was chosen 86th overall, out of Washington and signed a four-year contract.

Te'o-Nesheim finished his college career with 30 sacks, a Washington record. He is part of a remade defensive end grouping, which includes Pro Bowler Trent Cole, Juqua Parker, first round pick Brandon Graham and Darryl Tapp, acquired in an off-season trade with Seattle.

Coach Andy Reid has praised Te'o-Nesheim's intelligence and flexibility. On some nickel packages in recent practices the smallish (for a defensive end) rookie was playing on the interior of the line.

The deal leaves Graham, second round pick Nate Allen and fifth rounder Riley Cooper as the Eagles' only unsigned draft picks.

Jon - you might want to get in the habit of saying "former Eagles practice squad player" before Riley Cooper's name. I like the Eagles top three WR's - but they have no depth at that position. I'd like to see them sign a vet.

This rookie will have to make me believe. He seems like a really nice guy who should have been drafted in the 7th round. Might not have the size or speed to get sacks in the NFL.

I hope this Teo Nesheim can contribute right away. Still suprised the Eagles took him over Everson Griffin who was the best defensive end on the board when they drafted teo Nesheim. Trevor Laws also needs to pick up his game because he has did nothing since the Eagles drafted him.

Te'o-Nesheim's 30 sacks in 49 starts is good in any league. On video he has a quick lateral move and fast to qb. Look out Tony!

So briandawkins20. You must have scouted a lot of games to be so sure Everson Griffin was the best available. Be honest, you never heard of either one of these guys before the draft.

The jury remains out regarding any of eagles draft choices. I'm more concerned about corner, both corners. Asante doesn't tackle and the teams know it. What are the eagles going to do at both positions. They surely didn't address the problem in the off season and the draft. My prediction, long year for the defense.

lerze: For one thing they got a tackling machine in Sims, and Bradley is back, also. It is easier for everyone if you have decent LB's playing defense. AR says Samuel is working on his tackling, I guess I will have to see that to believe it. The truth is the defense was decimated by injuries all season last year, and they still won 11 games.

Samuel also has worked on improving his strength...

The bubble screen was not only effective because of Samuel. Granted, he failed to stick his helmet in there and help break it up, but how many times does the opposition need to run a certain play before the defensive coaches come up with some idea on defending it? And what about the other players on that side of the ball?
