The Eagles signed tight end Garrett Mills, wide receiver Jeremy Williams and safety Chip Vaughn to their practice squad Monday, give them the maximum of eight.

Getting the 6-foot-1, 235-pound Mills means the Eagles have likely closed the book on their affiliation with Cornelius Ingram. The second-year tight end was trying to come back from back-to-back torn ACLs and struggled through training camp and the preseason. Ingram, a 2009 fifth-round draft pick, was having a splendid camp a year before he re-tore his ACL.

A message left with Ingram was not returned.

Mills was originally a fourth round draft choice of the Patriots in 2006. He barely qualified for the practice squad having played in nine career games in the last three seasons with the Vikings. He has seven career receptions for 91 yards.

With the Eagles carrying just two tight ends -- starter Brent Celek and rookie Clay Harbor -- Mills could eventually be called up to the 53-man roster if Harbor isn't ready on game days.

The 6-0, 203-pound Williams was recently signed by the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent. He played college football at Tulane.

Vaughn, 6-2, 221 pounds, was drafted by the Saints in 2009, but spent of all the season on injured reserve. New Orleans released him on Saturday.
