Eagles sign FB Schmitt and TE/FB Mills

POSTED: Monday, September 13, 2010, 6:40 PM

The Eagles signed fullback Owen Schmitt and tight end/fullback Garrett Mills to the 53-man roster and placed fullback Leonard Weaver (knee) and center Jamaal Jackson (triceps) on injured reserve.

Mills was on the Eagles practice squad. The team also agreed to terms with guard Fenuki Tupou so that he could join the practice squad.

Originally a fifth round draft choice of Seattle in 2008, Schmitt (6-2, 245) played in 30 games (two starts) in two seasons with the Seahawks, notching 12 receptions for 50 yards and one touchdown while adding 21 rushing yards on five attempts. He was released by the team on September 6.

A three-year starter at West Virginia, Schmitt racked up 1,003 career rushing yards on 160 attempts (6.3 average) and also caught 32 passes for 288 yards and two scores. He earned Division III all-conference honors as a freshman at Wisconsin-River Falls before transferring to West Virginia in 2005.

I'm honestly surprised they didn't sign Davis.

So it turns out Kolb is horrible...and they just traded their best QB ever to a division rival...OWWW that's gotta hurt Philly. Hey but at least you have a guy that tortures small animals to lead your team. Another 50 years to wait for a winner?

Reid never admits to coming up short in his assessments on any football issue. Since last off-season the question marks with the Oline have been hammered by anaylsts and fans alike. Reid said, I am not worried. Kolb's performance was heavily influenced by Morninwigs poor play calling and Eagles Mgmt.'s refusal to draft a center and real OLine help. They got incredibly lucky with Austin Howard LT. They did waste 3-darft picks for 1-player who again is undersized to play DE. The guy may have motor and heart, but just does not have the size for a 14-16 game season. Unwise use of resources/picks. Get ready for a pick in the top-10 draft. Lets hope they use it more wisely than this past draft.

Reid has a plan/formula and sticks with it, for the most part its been successful, like it or not. Unfortunately the "I need to put players in a better position to be successful" wore a bit thin in 2001. A little more frankness and honesty after 11 years in charge wouldn't hurt his rep. "I'm glad we've closed the doors on the Andrews saga, I miss BDawk immensely and wish to god Jason Peters could pay attention for more than 5 minutes, if he moves before the snap again I'm gonna put TOs tights on and sit on his face"... we could all relate to that.

The Gold Standard should try to entice Daryl "Moose" Johnston out of retirement...like they did with Aikman when Pukey got hurt.

Lerze...what do you want Reid to do?...print a list of people they thought would be good but got hurt, had issues or just weren't as good as we thought? Oh, yeah - I forgot - NO other theam does that either. The easiest job on the planet is making decisions with hindsight. Too bad the job doesn't exist except in the mind of those who never have to make a real decision. Monday morning quarterbacks are all over the place...to bad the pay sucks.

I completely agree with Lerze! Ziggy; EVERY YEAR Reid refuses obvious holes that even my WIFE can point out. Center was a huge question mark before the injury, and he keeps saying "We'll be alright there" No we won't, the only thing worse then his G,M, skills are his game day coaching skills!

Right with you UKEagle. I love the predictability of trolls, with no life. Can you imagine the emptiness of an existence which is the basement dwelling out of town troglodyte? The irony, is the Freudian slip of 49years referring to the torturing of small animals, a reference to his other pastime when not trolling or lurking like the sociopathic loser he is in the real world. Idiot keyboard warrior. So pathetically sad you are lower than an algae or fungus... which is insulting to lower life forms.
