Eagles sign DT, work out DT

POSTED: Saturday, August 1, 2009, 2:03 PM

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- The Eagles announced the signing of defensive tackle Willie Williams. A 6-foot-4, 305-pound free agent, Williams was on the Rams' practice squad last year and was released earlier this week. St. Louis' signing of former Eagle Hollis Thomas led to Williams' release. The 24-year-old played his college football at Louisville.

With Trevor Laws injured the Eagles needed to bring in a d-tackle to shoulder some of the camp load. The team also isn't particularly deep at that position which is why they also worked out d-tackle Jesse Bowman today. Bowman, out of Mississippi State, was an undrafted rookie free agent.

Just wondering, when is McLeader scheduled to pronounce that he is the leader this year?

psu05: After he beats the stuffing out of you. Then he'll pronounce himself leader.

He's so pompous, he doesn't need to announce it....everyone already knows!

It bugs me every time I hear DMac say he's a leader. True leaders don't have to remind anyone that they are leaders. I can't remember ever hearing Dawk saying how much of a leader he is. He just went out and led.

Dawk never was asked if he was a leader. The local media repeatedly asks McNabb about whether he's a leader and about being a leader. The guy is just answering the questions asked. It's not like he's running around holding court with the media a la TO.

psu05-----You should be worried about how the nittany lions are going to look in a bowl game this year. After they were made to look like Div1AA team by USC in January, one would think you'd speak a bit quieter. I'm curious sport, have you ever played the game on ANY level? My guess is that clowns like you that rip McNAbb have no clue about what you post on a forum such as this. What's the alternative genius? Kolb? I don't think so.

Best QB the Eagles ever had and he goes unappreciated. I just think some people are jealous of his status as a citizen and his fame as a player.

How much longer till the haters just go away? McNabb is quickly on his way to a Hall of Fame induction and all the haters do is whine and complain... But they'll be the same ones in canton saying I never wanted Ricky Williams, I wanted Don all along.

Find another team if you don't care for the QB. By the way this article is about DEFENSIVE TACKLES!

It's funny how the only people who question Mc5's leadership are the local sports writers who can't seem to earn their money by coming up with real stories (I have to rely on USA Today, NFL.com, etc for that...) and those *few* fans of the Giants/Cowboys/Redskins you see in the thread above who just can't seem to appreciate what we have at QB right now. Is he the greatest to ever play the position? No, but he is the best we've ever had, and the best we may have for awhile after he's done. I'd be willing to bet that most of the haters will be crying about the good old days after Donny hangs'em up. Me? I'm getting ready to sit back and throw my support behind these men as we head into the trenches of another season, and appreciate how competitive 5 makes us in the toughest division in the NFL. No, I wouldn't take any of the other QBs in our division over Donny...and I'm confident he's going to put a ring on his teammates fingers before he hangs up the cleats...like a fine wine, and Elway, he's getting better with age. It's awesome knowing we are legitimate playoff contenders even before the season starts.

Parallels between Haters and KKK members are obvious.

Maybe if writers stopped asking him if he was the leader of the team he wouldn't have to say it. Can't wait for him to leave so then you drunkards will realize how good we had it.
