BREAKING NEWS: Not everything on the internet is true.
Including a rumor that Andy Reid would be replaced by Jon Gruden. Here's what the Eagles had to say: "Early this morning we have received several inquiries regarding the rumors regarding Andy Reid and Jon Gruden. This was simply a rumor and there is no basis to it at all. It is simply not true."
This was apparently started by former Eagles fullback Kyle Eckel and a post he made on his Facebook page. Obviously it picked up enough steam in the Web world that the team felt it had to respond.
We return now to labor disputes and rampant draft/free agent speculation.

if they floated this rumor right after the GB loss, then it would have some interest. but not after they went through all the trouble of rebuilding the coaching staff. a new head coach generally wants his own people (unless you're in dallas or oakland). we've probably all though of chucky coming in and getting the job done. i believe he could get us at least one superbowl win. problem is, after 4-5 years the players start to tune him out, so it's a small window. i dunno if jeff can pull the trigger on that move.— Evilvet- Hey Evilvet, Reid's been here eleven years. - yeah they tune him out to 10-6 records and playoffs every year. it's that plus the players actually like him that he's still around. he makes management happy because they win enough, and the players think he gives them a shot in a winning system. he doesn't overcoach with speeches and burn out the players with same old pep talks. gruden fires them up fast, but burns the candle twice as fast. — Evilvet

- It sounds like a crazy rumor but you never know we have heard weird stuff start on the internet with the birds before and then it ends up true...the only way I think this would happen is if Andy had personal reasons and he STAYED ON HAS GM or a major front office person I don’t think he would be totally forced out....as I have said many times Andy is a good coach but after 12 years I can’t take his pass happy philosophy and his view on drafting smaller faster players at the linebacker and defensive end position— phillykid19

- Yeah let's fire the trio that turned our franchise from a perennial laughing stock into one that makes the playoffs every year...that makes a LOT of sense. News Flash: We just came off an injury-filled, rebuilding year and STILL won the division and gave the eventual SB Champion their toughest fight in the playoffs.

Stay off the bandwagon please. - Dungy couldn't get it done, and Gruden came in and put them over the top. Reid had his way with Dungy in the playoffs, but then Gruden came in and out-coached Reid and stole our Super Bowl. I'll take a shot on Gruden.— phink

- uhh, pretty much agree completely. heard the same nonsense from rabid McNabb lovers one year ago. how he was a "hall of famer" and the "greatest eagles QB ever" blah blah, yea he was possbly our best ever, but hes no HOF'er imo and he is definetley past his prime and anyone that knows football well knew that, as I said it OVER AND OVER. same with Reid. His philisophy WAS new and unique 12 YEARS AGO. He has changed NOTHING since then and loses for THE SAME REASON EVERY YEAR. 60% passing EVERY GAME with 80% passing in the playoffs and loses EVERY YEAR. its insanity/stupidity. its really just pathetic at this point. - Reid will be replaced by Howie Roseman. Howie had zero experience as a GM and now, zero experience as a head coach. Zero experience is now a prerequisite for any Eagle hirings going forward. His system was better than the players. - Gruden has to be the most overrated coach currently available. He won the Super Bowl with Tony Dungy's players and did nothing beyond that. You want QB controversy's, the guy is praised by the media for being able to evaluate QB's, but when he was in Tampa, he had like 30 QB's in 5 years. He's the last guy I would want coaching this team, although I would enjoy the press conferences.— nate

Go Eagles.- I'm not what I presume most on here would label me as a 'Reid Apologist,' but a little reality check here. 1) There's now a half-dozen head coaches in the NFL that came from under Reid. That's insane. 2) There's no team in need of a coach right now that wouldn't pounce right on Jeff Fisher, and Reid's career coaching pedigree blows Fishers outta the water. 3) For an incredibly young team that was pegged by most to finish no better than .500, 10 wins and an NFC East title is really nothing to sneeze at. It's not like they just got knocked outta the playoffs by the Super Bowl Champs or anything. Actually wait.. Obviously Andy's gameday coaching can be downright ugly at times, looking at a lot of the comments, if I hadn't read the report I'd think we were talking about Wade Phillips or someone. Not saying I wouldn't at least consider a change if there was some other established and well-respected coach in line, but the level of venom spewed at this guy, the franchise's winningest coach ever.. I don't know I just don't get it. This franchise basically did nothing for a decade after Buddy Ryan - and I followed every one of those teams. - Gruden was the last coach to establish any kind of success in Oakland. A lot of you all are forgetting about that. I think its more impressive than winning a ring in TB.— jtj06
- The Eagles fans in the past had a GOAL to WIN the Superbowl, not reach the playoffs. Reid's EGO does not let him mix running plays when needed, but pass, pass and his GAME PLAN ends after the first quarter.— tulsaphil
