Eagles most impressive win of the year

POSTED: Sunday, October 17, 2010, 4:21 PM

The Eagles played a complete game in their 31-17 win Sunday, burying a Falcons team that looked very good coming into the week.

It was perhaps their most impressive performance to date. Only the 28-3 victory at Jacksonville comes close.

The only real worry is DeSean Jackson, who left the game after taking a vicious hit in the second quarter. He was electric in the first half, racking up 78 total yards and two touchdowns in about 15 minutes of work. Kevin Kolb looked his best yet, completing 79 percent of his passes and hitting on three touchdowns against just one interception. We'll see what Andy Reid has to say about his quarterbacks shortly.

The defense played four strong quarters, shutting down the Falcons' runners and Matt Ryan.

Only other concern for Philadelphia is David Akers, who missed three field goals.

Its only impressive if you thought the Falcons were contenders. LMAO, the Eagles will be tested by their NFC East foes...but the Falcons?? LMAO!!

It's time the league did something more to stop concussions. Six games in, the list keeps growing: Kolb, Bradley, Samuel, Cooper, and now D-Jax. Enough talk, time for action.

Great win but still can't escape Reid's stupidity. 47 yard field goal attempt with an 11 point lead and nearly 15 minutes to play. A really good team would have stuffed up his fat ***!!!

WOW....Kolb was fanstastic...23 for 29 for 326 yards and 3 long touchdown passes.....Kolb should be the starting QB and the future of the Eagles...Kolb should have never lost his job when he was injured in the first game...This is Kolb's third game where he has passed for over 300 yards...Vick could never do that...period

I'm tired of being ridiculed for the last couple weeks. I tell people I know the Eagles were going to play better. They laughed at me. Reid, for all his lack of common sense, has strengths as a coach. Especially with young players. I think a light bulb somewhere went "on" after week 1. More running plays. Oh yeah, it's discouraging year after year, to watch star players OUT due to season-ending injuries, concussions, etc. All trying to get on Sportscenter highlights, trying to make a "statement" by hitting the other guy so hard he'll never forget it. Killing each other in the process. The NFL owners are laughing at their expense all the way to the bank. The fans lose.

Wow, no matter who they beat, people say they are not contenders, get a life idiots, every team NFL is hard to beat on any given Sunday. Didn't Jacksonville beat the Colts ? How tough has Detroit been ?

Yea, BooDuhBud, "BABYARM" looked good. The Eagles offense was ELECTRIC! As Andy says, "nice problem to have".

If Kolbs first season as a starter is going to have some ups and downs, this is one for the ups column.

KOlb has started four games that he played the entire game..and Kolb threw for over 300 yards in three of those four games...and Kolb led the Eagles to wins in three of those four games....Kolb needs to start every game and he will continue to get even better...Reid needs to stop jerking Kolb around and let him start at QB.

Reid isn't jerking Kolb around he is the backup QB, he did exactly what he was suppose to do. Vick is the starter

Great Game by Kolb, compliments of the O Line.... Kolb looks a little more steady in the pocket than he has in prior weeks. i am all for leaving Kolb at the helm until Vick is 100% healed. Kolb looks great but let's be real, Kolb should have NEVER been handed the Starting Job in Phila. If there was true competition in Camp there's no way that Kolb comes close to out playing a former NFL All Pro Quarterback, no way he's shown those capabilities. I just don't see what the Philly Reporters were seeing in Camp or from Kolb to promote this maddness..... This experience has been a telling experience after 50 years of reading Philly Sports, there never been a more clear signal than now..... The Dailynews and Inquire Writers don't know Apples from Oranges when in comes to Football Talent..... Great job and a shout out to Sheil.... the "one" true objective sports writer in the entire organization

Honestly, I don't know why so many people have to take sides in this QB dilemma for the Eagles. After seeing the way Kolb play today, and thinking about how Vick played until he got injured, these two guys look like superstars. I mean, these guys are playing great and I guess it doesn't matter which one starts because they both could win games. And it looks like my prediction of 13-3 or 12-4 is about right. Super Bowl this year.
