For the first time in quite some time, Andy Reid didn't have to update the media on the status of his injured players the Friday before a game. The Eagles are about as healthy as they can be heading into Sunday's showdown at Dallas.
Yes, center Jamaal Jackson is out and that has brought about its own concerns, but Reid doesn't have to worry about any of the players on his active roster being any less than probable for the Cowboys. Quarterback Michael Vick practiced for the second straight day and is ready to go despite a quadriceps bruise. He will be the No. 2 quarterback, Reid said.
"He’s feeling good. He practiced today," Reid said. "We have a couple things in for him. I look forward to getting him back in there and playing.”
There was no reported setback for running back Brian Westbrook. Reid was asked if Westbrook was in the type of shape he was in prior to the two concussions he suffered over a 20-day span in October and November.
“I think he’s back," Reid said. "We’re going to use him, so I think he feels pretty good. ... I though last week was good work for him, and we'll just add to that this week. I can’t tell you the number but we’ll see what it ends up being.”
Safety Quintin Demps will likely be cleared to play, although the Eagles aren't sure if he'll be the kick returner again. Macho Harris had two fumbles, one of which was lost, on returns last week.
As for the Eagles' offensive line shuffling, Reid said that Nick Cole is ready to start at center. The coach was asked what were the most difficult challenges Cole would face in replacing Jackson.
“It’s playing a new position and who he’s playing against," Reid said, referencing Cowboys nose tackle Jay Ratliff.
Max Jean-Gilles is slated to replace Cole at right tackle.
im more worried about max than i am nick..... DON17
The 'Boys D-Coordinator got a belated Christmas present when Jamaal went down.I hope Nick stuffs Ratliff & Co. all freakin'day long. TBear- Oh...other that Jackson....the Eagles are as healthy as can be. Other than the fact that the Eagles are significantly weakened at 2 positions on the OL, with one week notice, against the best front seven in football, the Eagles are A okay! arrowamy
arrowamy-Are you high? The best front seven in football? The girls are #12 in total defense. It's not ALL because their DBs suck (which they do). Seriously dude, try watching a little football before you post takebackamerica1
Hey takebackamerica (which by the way I'm all for), but you obviously don't watch enough football to realize that Dallas has the best defense of any team that has clinched a playoff spot right now. Forget yards, look at points. With the exception of the Giants, no team has scored more than 21 points on them (and both those games were garbage TDs after the game was well in hand). In games vs some of the league's best offenses: the Eagles (16 pts), Green Bay (17 pts), San Diego (20 pts), New Orleans (17 pts). This is a very good defense the Eagles are going against the week. Hopefully, Andy, Marty, and co. prepare accordingly SanDiego_Phils_fan
Arrowamy has the key comment. Yeah, we're relatively healthy, but a weaker team than a week ago. Nick Cole will do his best, and hopefully that will be good enough. Playcalling will be important in keeping Ratliff and Ware off balance. tacklinjoe
This Cowboys team that had to hold on to a 7-6 victory over a Redskins team we destroyed a week later? Wow. Impressive. Time to put a damper on the mood in Dallas. dr.elektrika
Where's Jamie-Lee Curtis is he playing today I heard he broke is Vag! antoine
dr elektrika you beat the Skins 27-24 kicking the winning field goal with 1:40 or so left in the game. Is that your definition of "destroying"? In fact, the Skins led the game until the Eagles tied it with 7:00 left in the 4th quarter. Maybe your short term memory is really bad. JBinDC
This may be stating the obvious: we need good run-pass balance, and I'd be surprised if we can get a win w/out winning the turnover war. Let's hope we stay hot, and get a much needed/deserved bye week. MG44- I agree MG44; the three-headed monster at running back (Westbrook, Weaver and McCoy) could and should be the key. Dallas will bring a lot of pressure with Ware, Ratliff and Spencer. Andy should run the ball effectively early and use a lot of screens with the 3 backs, which eventually will open up the field for Celek, DeSean, Avant and Macklin. He can't be too pass happy from the start. He should try to control the game right away. The Eagles can't have too many 3 and outs early. They have to keep the pressure on Romo and Phillip, who are under a humongous microscope, and they will crumble. When you give them chances, that’s when they could be dangerous, especially at home. JB: actually the final score was 27-17 which made the Birds go up to 5-2 and the Deadskins 2-5....because they suck. And they were down 24-10 up till the fourth quarter. Sounds like they kicked their a** to me. dr.elektrika
#####a doo doo doo , dah dah dah is all I want to say to you............ Eddie Spaghetti
Dr. elektrika the game you are talking about happened weeks before the Cowboys ever played the Skins, since the first Skins-Boys meeting occurred on 11/22. The following week was 11/29. See below for a recap. Just admit you are wrong and that your reasoning is ridiculous. Facts are a funny thing, you don't get to make them up...... Other than Jamaal Jackson, Shawn Andrews, Stewart Bradley and Cornelius Ingram, the Eagles are 100% healthy!!! reils
Philadelphia fans are morons Mr. 3
dr. elektrika how'd that logic work out? JBinDC
