BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- The Eagles signed wide receiver Kelley Washington to a one-year contract. To make for the big-bodied wide receiver that last played with the Baltimore Ravens in 2009, the team cut receiver Jared Perry.
The team worked the 6-foot-3, 219-pound Washington out earlier this week along with Perry. The Eagles signed Perry on Thursday and cut receiver Kevin Jurovich.
Washington caught 34 passes for 431 yards and 2 TDs last season in 15 games. It was the best statistically of his six seasons in the NFL. He also considered a very good special teams player. Washington could be competing with Hank Baskett for that last wide receiver spot on the roster.
“He might be similar in some places to some of the guys we have," Eagles coach Andy Reid said. "He’s a good special teams player. Really, a couple of years ago he was one of the best in the league. He’s a good inside receiver, physical, big, strong guy. You’ll see him probably helping us more on the inside, as an inside receiver."
