The Eagles agreed to terms with cornerback Brandon Hughes and will place cornerback Ellis Hobbs (neck) on injured reserve, a team spokesman said Tuesday evening.

The 5-foot-11, 188-pound Hughes was on the Giants practice squad and will now be a part of the Eagles' 53-man roster. He was drafted by the Chargers in the fifth round of the 2009 draft out of Oregon State.

Hughes can return kicks and could be a replacement for Hobbs, who injured his neck Sunday against the Giants on a return. Jorrick Calvin had been filling in for Hobbs, but mishandled a few kicks a week earlier against the Redskins in a rainy game.
