The Eagles continued to try to bolster their special teams on Wednesday by signing linebacker/special teams ace Bryan Braman from the Houston Texans. Earlier in the day, the Eagles signed Chris Maragos, which was also special teams motivated.

Braman, 26, is 6-foot-5 and 241 pounds. Although he's listed as a linebacker, his value is on special teams. Braman was a Pro Bowl alternate in 2012. His deal is for two years and $3.15 million deal, including $1 million guaranteed, according to ESPN.

You don’t find many players of Bryan’s size with the ability to run down the field and make plays on special teams,” Eagles head coach Chip Kelly said. “It’s an area of the game that we always have our eye on and look to improve. With his size, we also like his potential as a guy who can compete for spot as an outside linebacker.”

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman lauded Braman's toughness, and he once made a tackle after losing his helmet. Braman is one of seven former Texans on the Eagles roster.

Braman went undrafted out of West Texas A&M, where he was dismissed for manufacturing psilocybin (a hallucinogen), according to a 2011 Houston Chronicle story. Braman also worked for Abercrombie & Fitch in Los Angeles, modeled, attended some casting calls, and was a bouncer, according to the article.

The Eagles have uncertainty at their backup linebacker spots, which Braman is expected to occupy.

More information to come throughout the day.
