Eagles sign DE to replace Te'o-Nesheim

POSTED: Tuesday, November 22, 2011, 2:25 PM

The Eagles signed defensive end Maurice Fountain to their practice squad to replace Daniel Te'o-Nesheim, who Tampa Bay signed to their 53-man roster.

The 29-year-old Fountain was last seen at Seahawks' training camp, but was cut before the season. A journeyman, Fountain (6-foot-4, 270 pounds) has played in the Arena League and the UFL. He spent time with the Dolphins during their 2008 camp and later with Seattle in 2010 on their practice squad.

Te'o-Nesheim was drafted by the Eagles in the third round of the 2010 draft. He played in six games as a rookie and recorded one sack. The defensive end was cut before the season, but the Eagles signed him to their practice squad where he stayed all season until the Buccaneers picked him up.

Right now an undersized 5'11 218 'fastball' DE and his agent at a Div III school in Delaware are licking their chops knowing the Gold Standard will now be targeting them trading down 8 times to get him in the 5th round.....

    LOL

1)if you need insder info to beat the seahawks you might as well make those early january golf plans

2)guys on the practice squad arent given full playbooks because the drills and scrimmages they run dont require it. also TC/PS guys bounce around quite a bit from team to teamso wise coaches dont open the playbooks much

teo knows as much of the eagles offense as you do. ditto for this guy from the 'hawks TC

That's ok. The Birds can trade up again for another undersized DE with a high motor... Did he really take Brandon Graham when Earl Thomas was there?

Maybe the Eagles can sign HipHop to play DE. I hear he's looking for work.

I hear they may be targeting a 6-4 245 TE from Oaky Oak State Div 3 and want to convert him into a DE based on his quickness and motor.

Another high round Andy Reid draft pick bust goes bye-bye. which 2nd or 3rd round pick from the 2011 draft will be cut next raining camp?

This new guy is 6'4" 270#...clearly he is too big to be a DE on this team and was just signed to get some insight on Seattle's defense.
    Only in Philly...

This move is MUCH more significant than most of you think. Howie told me so.
