The Eagles signed linebacker Monte Simmons off the 49ers practice squad on Monday.
Simmons, signed as an undrafted rookie free agent, spent all of last season on San Francisco's practice squad. He's listed at 6-foot-3, 226 pounds and played college football at Kent State.
Over his four years at Kent State he recorded 21.5 sacks and 38.5 tackles for loss as a defensive end, according to the team's Web site. He's a native of Swissville, Pa., which is near Pittsburgh.

This is great news!! Now we don't have to worry about wasting a 1st rd pick on a LB. Problem solved! Good job by the front office finding this gem on a practice squad. Geno D- He'll be starting by Week 8. Probably as a D-end throwing fastballs
