Eagles place Clay Harbor on injured reserve

POSTED: Tuesday, December 18, 2012, 2:37 PM

Tight end Clay Harbor was placed on injured reserve, ending the season of the No. 2 tight end who was supposed to play a bigger role in the Eagles' offense this season. Harbor suffered a back injury in last week's loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. The Eagles have not yet made a corresponding move.

Harbor finished with 25 catches for 144 yards and two touchdowns this season. The Eagles wanted to get him more involved in the offense during training camp and the preseason, but the Eagles utilized a fullback in the gameplan more than anticipated.

The Eagles will return Brent Celek to the lineup this week against the Washington Redskins, and they have Emil Igwenagu on the roster, too. Igweangu might also need to help at fullback if Stanley Havili is out.

Sucks for Clay, he has been good all year as the #2 and played good while in for Celek.

Nice, Hannibal. I guess every team is supposed to have a Gronk/Hernandez duo on the roster. Guess what: only one team does, and even they each missed a few games due to injury this year.

This seals it - the Eagles' Super Bowl dreams are officially dashed. Oh, wait a minute...

Uh-Oh - This spells trouble! Now they'll lose 35-10 instead of 35-13. I could score 30 points on this squad.

Last season it was no OTAs (the Eagles were the only team to not have them), this year it's injuries. Clearing the decks for Reid's return. (just kidding).

Agree with Operagost: Bring back Jeff Thomason. All he does is score touchdowns!

harbor was horrible...he will never play for the eagles again and maybe not even in the nfl again...if he does you will never hear of him again and he will only last one or so more seasons.

One thing this season proves is that the Eagles need to reevaluate their training staff and methods.
