Eagles didn't call about Moss

POSTED: Wednesday, August 3, 2011, 2:46 PM

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- The Eagles did not make an offer for the-recently-retired Randy Moss and did not contact his agent, NFL sources said.

The Boston Herald reported Wednesday morning that the Eagles made an offer for the future Hall of Fame wide receiver. Moss retired earlier this week and recently filed papers to begin the process of retiring. That doesn't necessarily mean his career is over nor does it mean he's bound for Philly.

The Eagles may need a receiving upgrade with DeSean Jackson still not in camp and Jeremy Maclin still not cleared to practice because of an illness. They showed interest in acquiring Moss two off-seasons. But, for now, the Eagles aren't courting Moss.

Eagles president Joe Banner joked during PFT Live that the "Dream Team" T-shirts will soon be on sale at the team's website.

Hey, someone should sell those DREAM TEAM t-shirts...that would be cool.

At this point, better to have Sinorice Moss than Randy Moss.

This is tough. not the moss thing who cares about him. Not even JAckson because one way or another he will play here or he will not play my guess is he gets to camp pretty quickly when the money starts racking up on thursday when they ratify.

But if Maclin is worse than is being let on maybe taking a flyer on a guy like Malcom Floyd would be a good idea. Even if maclin is ok Floyd should come cheap at this point and would be a good red zone target, Even a guy like B Edwards if he understand his role as back up and Red zone guy could come in and catch 30 balls but still score 10-12 touchdowns and make him self look like a good teammate and guy for taking a role while at the same time still have a productive season and playing for a contender

folks can say what they want to say about MOSS but in the words of CHRIS CARTER he's the best receiver to ever play the game PERIOD!!!!!!! AND the eagles could certainly use Randy Moss

With Ronnie Brown and Shady McCoy, they don't need a Moss. You could split out Brown or McCoy and run soft seams or hot hots. You could do fake screens to one side and go naked on the other. Lot's of choices. I'd take DJack and Riley Cooper, put McCoy as a slot off motion. Celek and with Brown in backfield with Vick running options or Wildcats.

Even if he never caught a pass for the Eagles, R. Moss just being on the field would allow Desean and Maclin to run wild on defenses. It would be similar to what Asomugha didn't get one INT last year because nobody threw to his side. Moss is a difference maker, even today and the Eagles would be nuts not to consider him. Don't confuse hime with T.O...he doesn't want to be a Hollywood actor or have his own sitcom or reality show...he just wants to win a Super Bowl and I'm sure he's willing to do whatever it takes to join Vick so they can do just that together. Banner, please make it happen!
