Eagles trim to 53

The Eagles reached the 53-man roster limit by cutting 16 players and coming to an injury settlement with another on Saturday before a 6 p.m. deadline.
The following players were released: safety Jamar Adams, running back Eldra Buckley, wide receiver Chad Hall, cornerback Joselio Hanson, defensive tackle Anthony Hargrove, wide receiver Johnnie Lee Higgins, tackle Austin Howard, safety Marlin Jackson, defensive tackle Derek Landri, tight end Donald Lee, linebacker Greg Lloyd, offensive lineman Mike McGlynn, wide receiver Sinorice Moss, defensive end Daniel Te'o-Nesheim, tackle Fenuki Tupou and tackle Reggie Wells.
The Eagles activated tackle Winston Justice off the physically unable to perform list. He agreed to a salary restructuring that would allow him to earn his full salary were he to play, an NFL source said. Parker agreed to a similar restructuring of his deal. The Eagles would have taken a $4.4 million salary cap by keeping Parker at original salary.
The team also released tackle Ryan Harris after an injury settlement. Harris had back surgery last week. As expected, defensive end Brandon Graham was placed on PUP. He spent all of the preseason on PUP as he recovers from knee surgery.

Winston Justice has agreed to a pay cut to remain with the Eagles, according to Andrew Brandt of ESPN.
The Eagles tackle has been on the physically unable to perform list through all of training camp after off-season arthroscopic knee surgery and isn't expected to be ready for the start of the season. Because of Justice's knee injury -- and tackle Ryan Harris' back surgery -- the Eagles were forced to move left guard Todd Herremans to right tackle.
Justice is scheduled to earn $2.7 million this season, $3.2 million next season and $3.75 million in 2013. The 2007 second-round draft pick signed the extension in Nov. 2009.
A message left with Justice was not immediately returned.
As the deadline for the 53-man roster nears, the Eagles continued their cuts, releasing cornerback Joselio Hanson, offensive lineman Mike McGlynn, defensive end Daniel Te'o-Nesheim, defensive tackles Derek Landri and Anthony Hargrove, among others.
The Eagles were hoping to trade Hanson and get a low draft pick in return, but teams obviously called their bluff. With Hanson gone, second-year cornerback Trevard Lindley could stick around, along with Brandon Hughes and rookie Curtis Marsh.
McGlynn started 16 games last year at center, but was buried on the depth chart this preseason and failed to adapt to new offensive line coach Howard Mudd's methods. Did he think he got a fair shake?
"I'm still not going to say much and be a professional about it," McGlynn said. "I'm fine with my situation now. I'm excited about my future wherever it may be."
And where does he think that may be?
"Don't know yet," McGlynn said. "I'm going to sit down, have dinner and let my agent handle that. I'll land on my feet."
The Hargrove and Ladri cuts were likely good news for defensive tackle Trevor Laws, who missed most of camp with a hip flexor injury but is expected to now stay on the team. Among the other survivors so far were safety Colt Anderson and defensive end Juqua Parker.
The Eagles also released tackle Austin Howard, an undrafted rookie free agent signee a year ago.
"Well, Philly ... It's been fun," Howard tweeted. "Thnx for all the love. May be back in the near future?"

The Eagles have begun the processing of getting their roster down to 53 before Saturday's 6 p.m. deadline by informing wide receivers Chad Hall and Sinorice Moss that they have been released.
Hall's release was first reported by Adam Caplan and Moss' was reported by profootballtalk.com. Hall still has practice squad eligibility and could return to the Eagles in that form. He caught 11 passes for 115 yards and a touchdown last season; ran nine times for 29 yards; averaged 16.3 yards on four kick returns; and averaged 8 yards on four punt returns.
Hall and Moss were expected to be possible punt return options but with both gone there is a need for a returner. Veteran receiver Johnnie Lee Higgins isn't expected to survive cuts. DeSean Jackson said a few weeks ago that he remains open to the job, but he will likely only be used when necessary.
Center Jamaal Jackson has been one of the names that has been monitored closely to see if the Eagles would either cut or trade the veteran. But according to his agent, J.R. Rickert, Jackson isn't expected to go anywhere unless the Eagles receive a mind-blowing trade offer.
Rickert said that the Eagles had received calls about the 31-year-old, who is currently behind rookie Jason Kelce on the depth chart.
Akeem Jordan appears to be staying, as well, according to his agent, Lynn Lashbrook. "I'm pretty sure I would have heard by now if he was" waived, Lashbrook said.
Some other names to watch on the bubble as the deadline nears are: offensive lineman Mike McGlynn, tight end Donald Lee, defensive ends Juqua Parker, Daniel Te'o-Nesheim and Phillip Hunt, defensive tackles Trevor Laws, Derek Landi and Anthony Hargrove, cornerbacks Joselio Hanson and Trevard Lindley and safety Colt Anderson.

- WTF! Landri & Hargorve proven NFL veterans who had a great camp and preseason gone and keep Teo. Add this to all too many boneheaded decisions ie: not getting LB Bulloch or any veteran proven LB and go with unproven, small rookie, letting Akers and Rocca go and in place 2 rookies. 1st round on 27 yr rookie whose no where near ready to start, etc. etc. No way Super Bowl. Only positive is I certinaly hope will mean Reid is gone after this year and can get Gruden who has been reported would love to come back to Philly as head coach.— sdiegophillyfan
