Eagles add two WRs; set to interview Lovie Smith

By Zach Berman

Even without a head coach, the Eagles continue to make minor roster moves -- a common practice this time of year, as teams can offer futures contracts. (Basically, sign a player to spend the offseason with the team, and they'll compete for a job in training camp and the preseason.) The two players the Eagles signed Tuesday are wide receivers Nick Miller and DeMarco Sampson.

Miller, 25, is 5-foot-9 and 180 pounds. He played 17 career games from 2009-2011 with the Oakland Raiders and St. Louis Rams. The Southern Utah product has an 88-yard punt return touchdown in the NFL. He was out of football last season.

Sampson, 27, was a 2011 seventh-round pick by the Cardinals. He only has three career catches, and did not make the Cardinals roster last season. Sampson is 6-foot-2 and 204 pounds, so he has a bigger body.

In coaching news, the Eagles are set to interview former Bears head coach Lovie Smith on Thursday. Smith, 54, went 81-63 in nine seasons with the Bears. He reached the postseason three teams and went to the Super Bowl in his third season. He was fired after the Bears missed the playoffs with a 10-6 record.

The Eagles will also interview Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley, Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, and Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden this week.

Other coaches they're currently considering are Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, Falcons defensive coordinator Mike Nolan, an Falcons special teams coordinator Keith Armstrong.

That means there will be three offensive coordinators, three defensive coordinators, and one special teams coordinator.
