An MRI on Friday confirmed that Vince Young has a hamstring strain, the Eagles said. He is listed as "day to day."
The backup quarterback was hurt in the second quarter of Thursday's preseason game, but afterward he and Andy Reid both downplayed the severity of the injury.
"I don't feel like it's major," Young said last night.
The Eagles don't practice again until Monday, so we won't know until then if Young will be limited this week. But the report from the team indicates that his injury will not be a long-term one and they won't need to scramble to find another backup quarterback.
Young had his best game of the preseason Thursday before getting hurt late in the second quarter. He was rolling out on a fourth down pass play and seemed to have the chance to either run or throw for a score, but pulled up and fell to the ground. He was not hit on the play.
The Eagles obviously hope they don't have to use Young very much, now that the season is about to begin. If something were to happen to Mike Vick and Young is unable to play, second year quarterback Mike Kafka would step in.
