Does Vick now own a dog? He's not saying

POSTED: Wednesday, October 10, 2012, 1:04 PM

Michael Vick declined to answer whether he owned a dog after he tweeted a photograph of him and his daughter at home Thursday night that included a box of Milk-bone dog biscuits.

“I’m here to strictly talk about football,” Vick said Wednesday at the NovaCare Complex. “What goes on in my personal life is not to be talked about. What’s most important right now is the Philadelphia Eagles and getting the win Sunday.”

The 3-2 Eagles host the 1-3 Lions at Lincoln Financial Field.

In the picture, captured by the sports blog Crossing Broad, Vick is looking at his Eagles playbook on his IPad while his daughter is working at the same table. To the right is the box, apparently opened. The tweet was later deleted and another similar photo was sent, this time without the box in the picture.

Vick is permitted to own a dog and has spoken openly in the past about wanted to obtain one for his family, especially his two daughters. Recently, he was asked by CNN’s Piers Morgan if he ever wanted to own a dog again.

“Maybe so,” Vicks said in July. “Being honest. Being candid. … I still deal with my kids each and every day, and for the last 3 years, not being able to have a dog because of my acts. ... I just don’t think that’s fair.

“It may be something that’s therapeutic in that for them and I can’t take that dream away from them. That’s selfish on my behalf.”

Asked what kind of dog he would prefer to own, Vick told Morgan that he would allow his children to choose, but that “it certainly won’t be a pit bull.”

The Eagles quarterback was unable to own a dog during a probationary period following his release from prison in May of 2009. Vick served 19 months in a federal prison for owning and operating a dogfighting ring. He remained under house arrest for an additional two months and ended his probation in July.

I can't believe there are this many comments. It is no one's business. I don't care if he has a dog for his kids.

Did the requirements for his release from prison ban him from owning a dog? If not he has every right to own one if not he would be in violation of that ban.

"I'm here to strictly talk about football," Vick said Wednesday."What goes on in my personal life is not to be talked about." Then why is he allowing a picture of his personal life to be shown on this website?

People are right it's only a dog not a human... Newsfalsh, dogs are better than people, I wish people were as good as dogs. The human race is generally disgusting, if people acted more like dogs the world would be a far better place.

Warrentheape: of course you are mostly right, but if you committ assault with a gun, are you allowed ot have more guns? See, he used animals illegally, he lied about, and then he went to jail for interstate gambling because he "friends" rolled over on him. Then he expected to make millions plying that trade. And then, when it was all said and done, he got another animal. Just like buying a gun.

Personally, a smarter man would not be caught dead doing something like this, but then again, no one has every accused Vick of being smart. He did make the mistake and wasnt tihnking about his kids then, now they matter? Dont think so.

He has repaid his debts to society and continues to speak out against what he did. If he wants to own a dog he should be able to at this point. If we aren't going to allow people to serve their penalties and then move on, why even let them out of jail?

So if Bernie Maddoff ever got out of jail, we should all go running back to invest with him?

The problem with high profile persons that go to jail is that they are in the court of public opinion. And really, how can you classify Vick's actions as a mistake (which incidently I did below) when he knowingly lied about his involvment. On top of that, and this is where im utterly surprised, people are ok with him making MILLIONS again just because he is an athlete. I am all for one and done in professional sports. You throw it again committing a crime, even if you do one day of time, thats it. Go live like every other excon who would kill to have been handed your cards.

Can a sex offender ever marry? Can someone who used a knife to kill by a knife set? he paid his debt and I seriously doubt that he wants to harm another dog. Get off of your high horses people.
