Does Vick now own a dog? He's not saying

POSTED: Wednesday, October 10, 2012, 1:04 PM

Michael Vick declined to answer whether he owned a dog after he tweeted a photograph of him and his daughter at home Thursday night that included a box of Milk-bone dog biscuits.

“I’m here to strictly talk about football,” Vick said Wednesday at the NovaCare Complex. “What goes on in my personal life is not to be talked about. What’s most important right now is the Philadelphia Eagles and getting the win Sunday.”

The 3-2 Eagles host the 1-3 Lions at Lincoln Financial Field.

In the picture, captured by the sports blog Crossing Broad, Vick is looking at his Eagles playbook on his IPad while his daughter is working at the same table. To the right is the box, apparently opened. The tweet was later deleted and another similar photo was sent, this time without the box in the picture.

Vick is permitted to own a dog and has spoken openly in the past about wanted to obtain one for his family, especially his two daughters. Recently, he was asked by CNN’s Piers Morgan if he ever wanted to own a dog again.

“Maybe so,” Vicks said in July. “Being honest. Being candid. … I still deal with my kids each and every day, and for the last 3 years, not being able to have a dog because of my acts. ... I just don’t think that’s fair.

“It may be something that’s therapeutic in that for them and I can’t take that dream away from them. That’s selfish on my behalf.”

Asked what kind of dog he would prefer to own, Vick told Morgan that he would allow his children to choose, but that “it certainly won’t be a pit bull.”

The Eagles quarterback was unable to own a dog during a probationary period following his release from prison in May of 2009. Vick served 19 months in a federal prison for owning and operating a dogfighting ring. He remained under house arrest for an additional two months and ended his probation in July.

Fact is, if the guy was not QB of the Eagles, nobody would say he should own dogs.

A woman can murder her children, do her time and if by some reason she gets out of prison, she could get pregnant and have more children. Think of that when you think Mike Vick owning a dog is some terrible thing.

That poor dog is doomed. And, KYS24: There's a difference between dog fighting (which is also descpicable) and torturing dogs. Vick and those other thugs tortured those dogs for amusement. No matter how many of his apologists want everyone to forgive Vick, there are many of us who will never stop thinking that Vick is a monster and is only sorry he got caught.

Now if you've ever had a dog and a kid, you know that it's the kid's dog.

I'm still impressed he was able to choke those dogs without dropping them. Maybe they should make footballs out of dog skin.
