Does Vick now own a dog? He's not saying

POSTED: Wednesday, October 10, 2012, 1:04 PM

Michael Vick declined to answer whether he owned a dog after he tweeted a photograph of him and his daughter at home Thursday night that included a box of Milk-bone dog biscuits.

“I’m here to strictly talk about football,” Vick said Wednesday at the NovaCare Complex. “What goes on in my personal life is not to be talked about. What’s most important right now is the Philadelphia Eagles and getting the win Sunday.”

The 3-2 Eagles host the 1-3 Lions at Lincoln Financial Field.

In the picture, captured by the sports blog Crossing Broad, Vick is looking at his Eagles playbook on his IPad while his daughter is working at the same table. To the right is the box, apparently opened. The tweet was later deleted and another similar photo was sent, this time without the box in the picture.

Vick is permitted to own a dog and has spoken openly in the past about wanted to obtain one for his family, especially his two daughters. Recently, he was asked by CNN’s Piers Morgan if he ever wanted to own a dog again.

“Maybe so,” Vicks said in July. “Being honest. Being candid. … I still deal with my kids each and every day, and for the last 3 years, not being able to have a dog because of my acts. ... I just don’t think that’s fair.

“It may be something that’s therapeutic in that for them and I can’t take that dream away from them. That’s selfish on my behalf.”

Asked what kind of dog he would prefer to own, Vick told Morgan that he would allow his children to choose, but that “it certainly won’t be a pit bull.”

The Eagles quarterback was unable to own a dog during a probationary period following his release from prison in May of 2009. Vick served 19 months in a federal prison for owning and operating a dogfighting ring. He remained under house arrest for an additional two months and ended his probation in July.

Yes, please let it go. Everybody wants to condemn Vick and anyone else who makse a frekin mistake in life. He paid the price, he's working on being a better man, father, and husband. Leave the guy alone for cryin out loud then maybe he can just focus on football.

Please stop calling this a mistake. He made a choice (several, actually). He knew it was illegal and wrong, tried to cover it up and lied to the Feds and Goodell about it. That is not a mistake.
I have my doubts but I hope he has changed. It may not be fair to his kids but if someone gets banned for life from Disney World earlier in life, they can't take their kids to Disney World. Choices have consequences.

If you rob a bank, does that mean you can never have a bank account? If you are convicted of DUI, does that mean you can never drink alcohol again? If you commit insurance fraud, can you never purchase car, home owners, or life insurance . See a pattern here? Vick ran a dog fighting ring, killed dogs, etc. Yep, he was an evil person and paid his debt to society more than 99.9999% of the people doing exactly the same thing. He's not allowed to fight dogs. But he can own one. The dog would most likely live the life YOU or I can only dream about.

Actually he isn't allowed around kids because he will die in jail. If he was released he would have to register as a sex offender but its very unlikely he wouldn't be allowed around kids. Vick served the sentence, you may disagree but he did

Are you telling him that he should learn to spell the word dopey, or are you calling him dopey? If it's the latter, then maybe you should learn punctuations.

so should all the NFL players who have abused wives/girlfriends be prevented from dating or marrying? This obsession with dogs while people are being abused ins nonsensical.

It was a fair question, but, after some thought, not a fair answer. If he didn't want people to talk about it, he shouldn't be posting pictures like that on twitter. I love it when celebrities plead for privacy, yet post stuff like this on the internet. If you don't want everyone to see it, DON'T POST IT!

You guys are all morons -- this man paid his debt to society and should be allowed the opportunity to change. Dog fighting is something that is simply accepted in the South and if you're raised into it, you don't know otherwise. Everyone should stop being so egocentric. I'm a dog lover and think his acts were despicable, but I'm also not blind to the impact of culture on one's life and the ability to learn from one's mistakes.

Let Vick live his life -- he doesn't owe you anything.
