Sources: DeSean's injury not serious
Jeff McLane, Inquirer Staff Writer
BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- DeSean Jackson injured his back after he caught a pass from quarterback Kevin Kolb in the afternoon portion of Saturday's training camp practice.
The Eagles gave the injury update after practice, but said Jackson was still being evaluated. About a half hour after the update, the receiver, who hasn't spoken to reporters since he arrived at Lehigh two days ago, walked out of the locker room on his own, got into his black Porsche and sped away without comment.
Teammates and Eagles sources were saying the injury wasn't serious. Judging by the way Jackson left the practice facility, they could be right.
Kolb was asked if his heart skipped a beat when he he saw his star wide receiver go down.
"Yeah, especially for a quarterback," Kolb said, before pausing. "Yeah, you definitely need him out there."
While Jackson injured his back, he also limped off the field favoring his right leg as he leaned on a trainer. He was then helped into a cart, wheeled off the field and to the locker room. He got out of the cart without assistance but walked very slowly indoors.
The play occurred during a no-pads 7-on-7 drill. Jackson pulled in a 12-yard pass in between cornerback Asante Samuel and linebacker Omar Gaither. There didn't appear to be any contact, but Jackson looked as if he had to twist awkwardly to catch the ball. He dropped to the turf, rolled over and stayed down for several seconds before the training staff ran to him.
"I told coach, 'I didn't touch him. I don't know what happened,'" Gaither said.
As the trainers looked him over, Eagles coach Andy Reid came over to examine the scene. Jackson eventually got up, but he was wobbly and looked as if he might fall over again. He was visably disraught as he was carted away.
This is not good. DeSean Jackson is the best receiver on the Eagles and I pray to god that he will be fine. Injuries is the scary part about training camp but hopefully DeSean will be fine. briandawkins20

What do you call a guy who, at hearing the Eagles best player might be hurt, chimes in with "Ha!"? Shouldn't you be on a Redskins fan board, talking about FatAlbert's jazzercise program? dragoon6
McNabbtoMoss: Keep your mouth shut and take your dumb comments to another website. The Dumbest coach in football is Mike Shanahan and McNabb is injury prone so I would not be talkin. Do all of us a favor and yourself and stop making a fool out of yourself. briandawkins20
Oh no, they may win only 5 games instead of 7. JonKap
He apparently tripped over his massive ego. mick314- Go scratch you idiot. Take your hate and go somewhere else with it. No one should root for ANYONE to get hurt. And if you are a lifelong skins fan, get ready for a whole season of dirt balls. BTW, no where in this article did it say that it was a bad ball from Kolb to Jackson. Let's ALL hope he is ok. You wouldn't want your skins to beat a short handed squad, would ya?
The Eagles are going to win more than 5 games or 7 even without Jackson. This is an 11-5 team at worst and 19-0 team at best. Too much Talent and best coaching staff and orginization in the NFL. briandawkins20
McNabbtoMoss....it's a beautiful day. Come upstairs out of Mommy's basement and enjoy a little sunshine and give the hate a break. Oh yeah, and start paying Mommy some rent. jibberjabber

There's a ton of things that could have gone wrong, high ankle sprain, bruised contract negotiations, just plain tired, yes, ACL, let's wait for the official report. If he's out, it will give somebody else a chance, there wasn't going to be a superbowl this year anyway... eagledon
