Sources: DeSean's injury not serious
Jeff McLane, Inquirer Staff Writer
BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- DeSean Jackson injured his back after he caught a pass from quarterback Kevin Kolb in the afternoon portion of Saturday's training camp practice.
The Eagles gave the injury update after practice, but said Jackson was still being evaluated. About a half hour after the update, the receiver, who hasn't spoken to reporters since he arrived at Lehigh two days ago, walked out of the locker room on his own, got into his black Porsche and sped away without comment.
Teammates and Eagles sources were saying the injury wasn't serious. Judging by the way Jackson left the practice facility, they could be right.
Kolb was asked if his heart skipped a beat when he he saw his star wide receiver go down.
"Yeah, especially for a quarterback," Kolb said, before pausing. "Yeah, you definitely need him out there."
While Jackson injured his back, he also limped off the field favoring his right leg as he leaned on a trainer. He was then helped into a cart, wheeled off the field and to the locker room. He got out of the cart without assistance but walked very slowly indoors.
The play occurred during a no-pads 7-on-7 drill. Jackson pulled in a 12-yard pass in between cornerback Asante Samuel and linebacker Omar Gaither. There didn't appear to be any contact, but Jackson looked as if he had to twist awkwardly to catch the ball. He dropped to the turf, rolled over and stayed down for several seconds before the training staff ran to him.
"I told coach, 'I didn't touch him. I don't know what happened,'" Gaither said.
As the trainers looked him over, Eagles coach Andy Reid came over to examine the scene. Jackson eventually got up, but he was wobbly and looked as if he might fall over again. He was visably disraught as he was carted away.

He thought Mike Jenkins of the Cowboys was about to lay a pop on him. dgh01- if he walked back to his car it sounds like hes fine. I remember last year he had an injury scare in camp too, it sounded serious at the time, but it was just a minor sprained knee. He knows how to dive down after the catch and not get his head taken off, he will be fine. They should still have a big WR to complement him though.

McCrabtoMoss: Demarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer are going to plow the Redskin's turf with McCrab, week 1 no less. He'll be getting up playing air guitar with stars dancing around his head. When your team becomes competition, give us a call. dgh01

Hey Cowboy fans remember, you got knocked out the the playoffs too! bossrjc
One can only fantasize what McNabb could have accomplished in 2000-2003 seasons with Jackson, Maclin, Avant and Celek as his receivers. SteveS11
How can the McNabb fan on these boards make fun of Kolb's "inaccurate" passes? Boy...are you in for an awakening this season...I hope your boy Moss likes catching passes off his feet, 'cause that's where they are going to go! Have fun this season watching that mess of a team in DC! LOL! Phront_Runner

I will say this...Djax may be sulking a little because of the contract thing...but with his lack of size getting injured in a non contact drill can't be a good thing...I wonder how his conditioning is... merlinknghts
It's all that off season conditioning right? He's in the best shape of his life ready to prove he can play after the contact? Oh.. that must be someone else... HighDrama
The Redskins in Daniel Snyder have the dumbest owner in fooball. Go EAGLES jackt
