Sources: DeSean's injury not serious

POSTED: Saturday, July 31, 2010, 4:08 PM

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- DeSean Jackson injured his back after he caught a pass from quarterback Kevin Kolb in the afternoon portion of Saturday's training camp practice.

The Eagles gave the injury update after practice, but said Jackson was still being evaluated. About a half hour after the update, the receiver, who hasn't spoken to reporters since he arrived at Lehigh two days ago, walked out of the locker room on his own, got into his black Porsche and sped away without comment.

Teammates and Eagles sources were saying the injury wasn't serious. Judging by the way Jackson left the practice facility, they could be right.

Kolb was asked if his heart skipped a beat when he he saw his star wide receiver go down.

"Yeah, especially for a quarterback," Kolb said, before pausing. "Yeah, you definitely need him out there."

While Jackson injured his back, he also limped off the field favoring his right leg as he leaned on a trainer. He was then helped into a cart, wheeled off the field and to the locker room. He got out of the cart without assistance but walked very slowly indoors.

The play occurred during a no-pads 7-on-7 drill. Jackson pulled in a 12-yard pass in between cornerback Asante Samuel and linebacker Omar Gaither. There didn't appear to be any contact, but Jackson looked as if he had to twist awkwardly to catch the ball. He dropped to the turf, rolled over and stayed down for several seconds before the training staff ran to him.

"I told coach, 'I didn't touch him. I don't know what happened,'" Gaither said.

As the trainers looked him over, Eagles coach Andy Reid came over to examine the scene. Jackson eventually got up, but he was wobbly and looked as if he might fall over again. He was visably disraught as he was carted away.

@Over_Exposed: He is under contract for this season. There is no reason to think it's an ACL injury since he was walking under his own power when he got off the cart.

It is being reported that it is more of a back injury than a ankle or leg injury. It sounds like he is going to be okay but dont jump to conclusions yet until they evauluate him first.

@brianDawkins20: Let people make whatecer comments they want. Nothing people say here changes reality in the world. Whatever reality is, it is. Just because someone doesn't want to drink from the same kool-aid jug as you is no reason for them to keep from making a comment. People can decide for themselves who is an asshat and who isn't. Let the asshats make fools of themselves....it's part of the larger rubicon of life and internet forums.

For you Redskin fans, you're soon going to find out why the Eagles were willing to trade Donovan to a divisonal rival. By the way, Donavan never threw low passes. You really have guts making fun of the Eagles. When was the last time the Redskins fielded a winner? By the way, Haynesworth is the kind of guy I'd like on my team. WHY DID THE EAGLES TRADE McNABB TO YOUR TEAM???????? DO YOU THINK THEY MIGHT SEE A GUY GOING DOWNHILL?

To the guy/kid that thinks this team is capable of 11 wins this year, what time did you have your first drink/hit today? Seriously, it'd be great, but not this year. Thanks to the trade w/Washington, this team will be looking "up" @ everyone. Just being realistic. Anyword on whether KK threw the ball 40 yds in the air again today?

If Reid is such a dumb coach, the REDSKINS are smarter because they have HAD 5 COACHES since Reid became our coach. The Redskin fans are very insightful. At least they're smart enough to get fired.
