DeSean to miss practice with hamstring injury
Jeff McLane, Inquirer Staff Writer
The Eagles are down another receiver.
DeSean Jackson missed Thursday's practice with a hamstring strain, according to the team.
The Eagles wide receiver injured his hamstring during Wednesday's practice and was seen walking around afterward with a large wrap of ice on his left leg. He had no comment after Thursday's practice.
Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin did not practice either Wednesday or Thursday because of a hip pointer. He suffered his injury in the season opener at the Browns.
Maclin's and Jackson's status for Sunday's game against the Ravens is uncertain, although Jackson's injury is not believed to be as serious.
The Eagles signed Mardy Gilyard on Tuesday after Maclin's injury. The team is currently thin at receiver with Riley Cooper also out with a broken collarbone. Cooper returned to practice on Wednesday for the first time since his injury in late July but was held out Thursday.
If Maclin can't play Sunday, rookie Damaris Johnson could start in his place. The Eagles also have veteran slot receiver Jason Avant as an option, as well as Gilyard.
Cornerback Curtis Marsh was limited with a hamstring injury.
Comment removed.
It doesn't say he won't play Sunday. If he doesn't it may actually force AR to do the unthinkable and use his RBs.
tpizza- Ha! Ha! To paraphrase an NFL player, Philadelphia is where running backs go to die. It' s a shame if they have to use the running game as a matter of circumstances rather than as part of a shrewd strategic game plan (as it SHOULD be used). To pass as many times as they did last week is inexcusable. Somehow, I suspect nothing will change. essell
Yeah we'll do something about that rigt away bedpan robinlupe- REAL FUNNY LUPEE PEE. BUT, IT IS BLUNDERS LIKE REID'S IN APRIL 2011 (SELECTING JAIQUAWN JARRETT OVER TORREY SMITH) THAT ALL ADD UP TO THE 4 - 12 TRAIN WRECK THAT LEFT THE STATION ON SUNDAY. THE EAGLES GOT NOTHING WITH THAT 2ND ROUND SELECTION.

That's great. Our starting wide receivers against the Ravens will be Mardy Gilyard and Demaris Johnson.
SteveS11- If that's the case, there is one bright side. The Ravens won't have any game film of these two.
Practice. We're talking about practice! Not a game. Practice! Flackattack
oneway think mcnutt was a rookie they didnt sign not mcnabb who is with the nfl network now... defroe
What kind of a stupid team would draft a WR in the second round when they just drafted one in the 1st and one in the 2nd the two previous years? Brilliant hindsight, genius! operagost- YOU ASKED: "What kind of a stupid team would draft a WR in the second round when they just drafted one in the 1st and one in the 2nd the two previous years?" CERTAINLY NOT ANDY REID. INSTEAD, HE WILL PICK A PLAYER THAT WILL BE OUT OF THE LEAGUE IN LESS THAN 18 MONTHS. operagost, STICK WITH THE OPERA BECAUSE YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT FOOTBALL.

McNutt is on the PS. They can sign him to the active roster if necessary, but I imagine they'll wait until the last minute because they'll have to waive a good player to do it, or put Cooper on IR. The new IR rule means they could designate him as likely to return, and bring him back after week 8. operagost
Down two receivers? Vick can't see them? Barely got points against Cleveland? Here's an idea. Flip the ball a lot to McCoy and Brown, two of the best runners in the NFL. It's a pass, but almost a run. armchairGM
defroe Thanks for the clarification. Sorry I misunderstood. oneway
This game will be a good test for our offense. Eagles will improve as the season goes on. If they win this game, they are doing great. They aren't even close to where they'll be by the end of the year. MikeP
