DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin questionable for Sunday
Jeff McLane, Inquirer Staff Writer
DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin were listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Ravens.
Both were limited at Friday's practice. Jackson suffered a hamstring strain at Wednesday's practice and sat out Thursday. Maclin suffered a hip pointer in Sunday's game and did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday.
Reid said that both were at the same stage in their recovery.
The coach was asked what his backup plan would be if neither could start. The Eagles have four other receivers -- Riley Cooper, Jason Avant, Damaris Johnson and Mardy Gilyard -- on the active roster. Cooper, though, is still listed as out with a broken collarbone. Reid would not reveal his plan if Jackson or Maclin was held out and said that he was going to stay optimistic.
Maclin was optimistic, as well. He said that he expected to play. Eagles trainers may think differently come Sunday.
Jackson was unavailable for comment.
As for the rest of the injury report, cornerback Curtis Marsh (hamstring) was also questionable. Safety Colt Anderson (knee), safety Kurt Coleman (lip laceration) and Avant (wrist contusion) were listed as probable.
FROM EARLIER:
DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin were both suited up at the start of Eagles practice Friday, a positive sign that both receivers may be ready to play the Ravens on Sunday.
Friday is the lightest day of the week and the two receivers may be limited as practice progresses, however. Jackson pulled his hamstring during Wednesday's practice. Maclin suffered a hip pointer injury in Sunday's game against the Browns.
Both sat out Thursday's practice. Maclin also missed Wednesday.
The Eagles are light at wide receiver with Riley Cooper still sidelined with a broken collarbone. They did add Mardy Gilyard on Tuesday, bringing back the receiver 11 days after they cut him. Cooper practiced Wednesday for the first time since his injury, but was held out on Thursday.
Maclin's injury is considered more serious than Jackson's. If he can't play, Damaris Johnson would be the most likely candidate to replace him on the outside when the Eagles run three-receiver sets. He could be spelled by slot receiver Jason Avant when the Eagles use only two receivers. More than likely, though, the rookie would earn his first career start at receiver.
You guys should do some homework and figure out whether it is a hip pointer or a hip flexor injury to Maclin. A hip pointer is nothing. Take a shot for the pain and play. A hip flexor inhibits running and can linger for weeks. chriscollins
Celek's gonna have to come up huge on Sunday if they even have a chance at winning. beegal99
Celek can't, he has to stay in and help the "King (sic). Clay Harbor will come up BIG in this game..Watch.. FreddieMac- Everyone It's only the second game of the season, remember the Super Bowl Champs were 9-7. Win or loose don't get to happy or sad.
Q: How many Philadelphia Eagles does it take to win a Super Bowl? A: Nobody knows and we may never find out!
I hope your right, Freddie but don't tell Ray Lewis. He researches everything, even the comment board. tommy_the_k
Plaxico is available? fanup
Just how does McLane know this, I thought they were banned from practices, really hopw Reid keeps his word about the. The Philly sports media are nothing more than sleezy and not to be trusted. charmaine
Unless this sub-standard o-line can block somebody, it will be a tragic end to vick's career...Thanks Andy...Dunlap is a fraud and should not even be on an NFL roster and mouth Mathis is a joke....but the good news is, it is one more nail in AR's coffin nuggett- As far as I know, most teams aren't 3 deep at LT.

If Plaxico was worth the trouble he causes, he'd be on a team right now.
And if Ray Lewis is reading this then he knows that we will all be sure to bail on our team and boo the Eagles if they falter... so he's ready to stir the pot. First possession is key for the Eagles. Good drive and put up points... strong game. Turn over or ugly 3 and out.. LONG day! macd41144- When was the last time Andy Reid won a game where the matchups looked so bad? Seems like they win most of the games against teams you expect them to beat, you have some tossups, but when the other team looks better, Reid rarely surprises. I remember they beat Indy here when McNabb broke his leg. But that was a long time ago. This game has all the worst matchups.
Sign Plaxico, TO and Ochocinco. dixie1
charmaine, your boy the dog killer goes down this week AND the eagles lose. You bigot. sewell guy
last week Celek was wide open in the middle of the field the entire day...vick barely even looked at him.
They should have just cut Riley Cooper! im sorry, but he doesnt bring enough to the table as a reciever to warrant keeping him thru this injury for what? for the contributions he will make in special teams when he is healthy? Riley should be further along in his development right now. y not move away from him? we can find a million young kids that can give us what Cooper will give him this season, only difference is the young players actually have a chance to improve. copper is what he is. how much better to people really expect him to become? riley "spencer hawes" cooper!... the big man that wants to play like a midget. I dont think riley has gone up and fought for a single ball in his entire career. Im fed up...Not upgrading an injured cooper means that we are 1 starting reciever short of being screwed. we have ALREADY SEEN that when a starting reciever goes down, avant doesnt replacehim. avant stays in the slot. sorry but in week 2 of his undrafted rookie year...Damaris JOhnson can not start on the outside! johnGiam
Clay Harbor is a much better blocker than Celek sec719
