DeSean Jackson, Cullen Jenkins both fined

POSTED: Friday, September 21, 2012, 4:27 PM

Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson and defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins were levied fines by the NFL after last week's physical game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Jackson was fined $10,000 for unnecessary roughness after the league determined he threw a punch at an opponent. Jackson was involved in a first-half fight.

Jenkins was fined $7,875 for unnecessary roughness for striking an opponent late.

These fines came one week after Jason Babin was fined $15,750 for unneccessary roughness.

You mean like 97 who body-slammed Jackson? Can you only get fined if you got flagged at the time? I don't think so. Maybe Purple uniforms were exempt this week. Which week are green uniforms exempt this season?

Raven's Ray Rice - $7,875 unnecessary roughness, offensive guard Marshal Yanda - $7,875 for unnecessary roughness and corner Cary Williams was fined $10K for pulling down an opponent by the face mask after the play. Looks like the NFL dished out matching fines. How 'bout all the hits on Vick ? Guess it's open season on the QB in midnight green. O Line needs to hold their blocks a little longer starting this week. GO BIRDS !

usually vick takes so many hits because he holds the ball too long, but that clearly wasnt the case against the ravens. i saw at least 3 blatant late hits that weren't called

Thanks for the info ed. And I agree with you - Vick absorbed several cheap shots. Like the play in the 1st half when a Baltimore defender decided to lower his helmet into Vick's ribs AFTER he had already released the ball. How can that go unnoticed?

Yeah Mr. Magee, you're right on there. Someone for the Ravens not only gave a late hit to Vick but went in helmet-first to the chest of Vick. Didn't even get a freaking flag and no fine either. That was the most egregious play of the whole game.

Goodell is ruining this game. It's football for gawds sake. That hit by Golden Tate on Sean Lee was a thing of beauty. Sorry, I didn't sign up to watch figure skating

Goodell should use the fines to reimburse fans who actually pay to watch live the 2012 version of NFL football. It will take a death in the afternoon for that clown to appreciate the joke the sport has become. NFL coaches do more kibbitzing of refs from the sideline then you'll see in a street corner chess match. Does it have to descend to the level of WWE for the commissioner to bring back refs who understand the game?

Jackson, getting fined for unnecessary roughness, is funny.
