Cole draws target on Rodgers, literally

Trent Cole has an image of Aaron Rodgers, with the target of a rifle sight drawn on, taped in his locker today. He said the pass rush can "create problems" for the quarterback.

Trent Cole's locker tells you all you need to know about his mindset for Sunday.

Taped inside is a photo of Aaron Rodgers, crudely cut, with a rifle scope's target drawn on in black marker.

"I’ve seen previous games where he’s gotten disrupted when people start hitting. He's been through a couple concussions and all that stuff, and, like I said, we’ve got to get on him early and get on him fast and I think it’s going to create problems for him," Cole said Friday.

An avid outdoorsman, Cole was wearing camouflage colored Under Armour with the word "hunting" across the chest.

The Packers rely heavily on their passing game -- they were tied for fourth in the NFL in passing touchdowns -- and Rodgers had the league's best passer rating against the blitz, so pressure from the front four will be crucial Sunday.

"We’ve got to get on him quick and as fast as possible," Cole said. "It starts up front and we’ll go from there."

Cole finished the year with 10 sacks, but had just three in his past seven games. He brought down Rodgers once week 1.

Rodgers, Cole said, gets the ball out quickly, meaning there's no time for elaborate rush moves.

"You've got to go straight to him," Cole said. "Ain't no more juking and all that crap, you’ve got to go straight to the quarterback, straight line, that’s the quickest way."

Cole was asked about his lower sack total in recent weeks.

"Ain’t no dead period, I just do what I was told to do," he said, hinting at unhappiness in his role in the defense. "You take that like it is."
