Chaney: I'll be ready for minicamp
Jonathan Tamari
Linebacker Jamar Chaney talked to the Eagles' team Web site today, and said he'd be ready to practice in April even after having offseason surgery to repair a herniated disk in his neck. He said the surgery will help him from suffering the same injury again.
"It's coming along pretty good now," Chaney told PhiladelphiaEagles.com "By the end of this month, maybe next month, I should be back to myself 100 percent. I feel pretty good now, working out, squatting, bench pressing, doing the normal stuff I would be doing in the offseason."
He said he should be ready for minicamps and OTAs.
Chaney also backed the team's decision to bring back Juan Castillo as defensive coordinator.
"We're happy he's back because we went through a change last year with a new defensive coordinator, and it takes time to learn the scheme," he said. "This organization, I don't think they're trying to build for the future. We're trying to win right now, so the best thing is for Juan to come back because we already know the scheme."
I still think he has potential. I think he had some trouble learning to play behind the wide nine but he got better as the season went along. I can see the Eagles moving him to the SAM position after signing Stephen Tulloch. Don't give up on Chaney, folks. soulman386
He's a special teams player on a good day. Who cares? jimmymack
Be ready for what?Play matador again as running backs go by on his left, right and up the middle. This guy stinks and would not start or play for any other team in the league. What a joke.Cut him today. sewell guy
Oh thank god! I was scared he wouldn't be available next year. Eagles can't win without him.... he's such an incredible talent and playmaker HAROLD Eskin
When I look at the physical damage these young football players suffer through a normal NFL career, I do not begrudge them a cent - any of them - from DJax to Peyton Manning, and including young Jamar Chaney.
Seems like half these guys can't even walk without pain after retiring from this kamikaze sport. Better helmuts would help but so would a little research into safer playing surfaces. Cameiros
notice how no players say they think castillo is a good d-coordinator, they all just say they are happy he's back so they dont have to learn a new scheme.
and chaney why dont you learn to tackle before you talk to the media. you've done nothing in this league, nothing. i hope you do but you havent. psualum
oh man this post was a lob if I've ever seen one. I'm just surprised there are only 7 comments since it was posted... sore richard
Remember Ellis Hobbs had the neck injury a few years back, and was gone in a year. Chaney 's days here are numbered. He'll be gone in 2 years. watsonmr
What's he supposed to say, that Castillo suks? mrjarn
Success rate if orthopedist does disc surgery is 25 percent. Rate if neurosurgeon performs same procedure is over 90 percent. Factor in Ricky Burkblunder's expertise, pass the butter, this bird is cooked. mccloudmj

Mumbles will be back in 2012 to overrun 80% of the plays in which he has a chance to make a tackle. younged
I wouldn't mind Chaney starting on the outside with a major addition draftee/free-agent in the middle. p-diddy
