MCCOY VISITING EAGLES

POSTED: Tuesday, March 31, 2009, 3:26 PM

A league source said today that Pitt running back LeSean McCoy will make a pre-draft visit with the Eagles.

McCoy, a star at Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg, ran for 2,816 yards and 35 touchdowns in just two seasons with the Panthers. The 5-foot-11, 210-pound running back also proved to be a strong receiver coming out of the backfield with 65 career receptions for 549 yards.

Another league source said Chris "Beanie" Wells, the star running back from Ohio State, does not have a pre-draft visit scheduled in Philadelphia. The source said the Eagles did interview Wells at the scouting combine in Indianapolis. Wells finished his three-year career at Ohio State with 585 carries for 3,382 yards and 30 touchdowns.

Pre-draft visits do not always mean the Eagles intend to draft a player. There have been times when the Eagles have drafted a player in the first round even though that player did not visit the NovaCare Complex beforehand.

COLE SIGNS TENDER. Offensive lineman Nick Cole has signed the “mid-level” contract the team tendered him, ending his designation as a restricted free agent. Cole’s one-year deal will pay him $1.545 million in 2009.

Cole, who signed with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 2006 out of New Mexico State, received his first extended playing time as a starter last season. After Shawn Andrews and Max Jean-Gilles suffered season-ending injuries, Cole stepped in and started the final four regular-season games and all three of the Eagles’ playoff games at right guard.

With the possibility that either Shawn Andrews or Todd Herremans could be moving to left tackle, Cole could end up competing with Jean-Gilles as a starting guard. Cole also has the ability to play center. In fact, Eagles coach Andy Reid said at the NFL owners meetings last week that Cole will provide competition for Jamaal Jackson at center.

As a restricted free agent, Cole could have signed an offer sheet with another team and the Eagles would have had the option to either match that offer or receive a second-round draft pick as compensation. Now, he’s a member of the Eagles who will likely compete for a starting job.

Yeah, because this "One of the better front offices" has so many Super Bowl trophies. Face it, the Eagles are a "poor mans" Buffalo Bills and NO ONE remembers them so don't tell me I should be happy with 12-4 seasons and multiple playoff trips.

Much like your name sake 5isaking, you fail to see the obvious. While you sit there and think you're cute, just remember that this organization treats the fans poorly. While I still love the TEAM, I despise the entity that is the Eagles front office.

Really? We're nothing like the Buffalo Bills? The same team that has 50% more Super Bowl appearances than the Eagles? No need to try again chump. Beat it.
