Bradley praises Eagles medical staff, says he is ready to play

POSTED: Monday, September 20, 2010, 1:35 PM

Stewart Bradley defended the Eagles medical staff and their handling of his concussion Monday, saying he felt "lucid" even after falling to the turf after a collision against the Green Bay Packers.

"I never really felt that bad, really," Bradley said in his first session with reporters since his injury and the outcry over his brief return to the game with a concussion. "I always felt lucid and always felt like, other than that initial stumble, that my balance was good and I was mentally with it."

He said he initially passed seven or eight concussion tests before he went back into the game. When he came back off the field, though, the team asked him to remember some words they had given him as part of the initial concussion exam. Bradley could not remember them -- boat, apple, pear -- and he was yanked from the game.

Bradley said he passed the memory test the first time.

"It was just them taking precautions just for my safety, which you appreciate," Bradley said. He said he has "a lot of trust" in the Eagles medical staff and head trainer Rick Burkholder.

"They've done a great job. My mom's happy about it," said Bradley, whose mother is a nurse.

Bradley said he has been able to run and lift weights and fully exert himself, and is ready to play Sunday against Jacksonville.

Please, please, please replace the D coordinator !
He is horrible,, elevate DJ and send McDemott back to being the water boy! “that’s some fine quality H2O”
He is out coached in every game he has held the title,, the talent on O was the reason for the 11-5 record, McDermott MUST GO!
If not for Vick and McCoy the Eagles lose that game. Its just a matter of time…
    osi is hurt boohoo

Save it osi, like Kolb, he will be given every opportunity to prove, beyond any reasonable doubt, that he cannot match wits with his offensive couterparts. And then the Eagles will lock him down long-term.

DJ is an insurance policy, relax SM has done a decent job with what he had. That and he spent 10+ years under JJ.

not to knock Bradley's' mother but being a nurse doesn't mean she knows about concussions. look the man stumbled and fell to the ground and looked pitiful and somehow no one on the sideline seen it. yeah right.

Bradley's fine. Give it a freakin rest. Rub a little dirt on your head and get back out there.

Bradley should be sitting out for at least 3 weeks, same with Kolb. Short term they may be fine. I actually care about these players lives off the football field and in their future, unlike the Eagles and many others. The brain needs time to heal.

They're currently the worst D in the whole NFL. How could he NOT improve them!

Bradley has the size and strength to make a difference. In fact, he is an exception to Eagles approach. Graham is too small to play DE regardless of motor or heart. As a side note, I think graham is going to be a bust for those reasons. The Eagles need more Bradley-type players than smaller/undesized options.

I seriously don't get the "must be the best from game #1 attitude"... where did that come from? Every team that has had success in this league has built it. If you want instant success and the ability to buy a "championship" then I suggest you follow UK soccer (as you call it).. Dan Snyder is impirical evidence that money cannot but championships and nearly (if not every) coach or co-ordinator to win a championship had to earn it. The D is great at times but awful at others, I think the unit just needs more time together, once they gain complete trust in each other we'll see the results... I can already see massive improvements from last year. Still think we need a bonifide pass rushing tackle rather than sliding the 'little' guys inside.

Whenever the Eagles have a big lead they go into this prevent scheme that gives teams underneath stuff and they can't stop it.. No killer instinct. Just like not having a punishing run game for the end of the game when they have the lead. Bradley makes them better. The only thing holding this team back is Coaching

If Mcdermot wants to improvise move Graham to middle linebacker when Bradley is out (which is often). He be a perfect MLB when not playing DE. Moving him inside when teams are running the ball is going to end his career early. A beat up sholder is just the beginning. I can't believe he's playing Bunkley only 39% of the defensive plays.
