Bradley tweaks calf; leaves practice

POSTED: Wednesday, June 2, 2010, 12:38 PM

Linebacker Stewart Bradley limped off the practice field at the NovaCare Complex today, favoring his left leg.

The Eagles said he tweaked his calf. Bradley declined to be interviewed.

Bradley pulled up lame during a 7-on-7 drill and was briefly examined by the team's trainers before they decided to head inside. He walked off the field under his own power, but needed a little assistance before he walked through the doors that lead into the complex.

Bradley, of course, missed all of last season after he tore the ACL in his right knee. He tore the ACL in his left knee during his junior season at Nebraska.

Bradley has looked healthy since returning during minicamp a month ago. On Tuesday, he made a nice play when he ran with Brent Celek and broke up a pass intended for the tight end.

"Stew looks real good," Celek said. "He looks like his old self. I was telling him the other day that it doesn't look like he was ever injured at all."

His injury comes a day after the Eagles lost safety Marlin Jackson, who ruptured his right Achilles tendon during practice.

Guard Todd Herremans, meanwhile, missed his second straight day of practice with a unspecified left foot injury. Max Jean-Gilles filled in for Herremans at left guard.

Here's an idea: from now on wrap the players in bubble wrap and only practice in a swimming pool. But the way their luck has been with injuries someone would probably drown.

Why don't players just take two years to get all the way back and not rush it. Stew should take this year and continue to rehab the leg, truly get to 100%, and then continue his career. It takes 18-24 months for the whole body to return to pre-injury capabilities, just because "an exam" shows the knee to be structurally sound doesn't mean it's capable of taking on the stress and exhertion of playing pro football.

Can't believe this. Our 'D' will be a sieve without 55 roaming in the middle. Hopefully it's just a strained quad or calf.

this stuff is friggin ridiculous. how is it that i watched nfl football through the 70s and 80s and players were never injured. seriously, go back and look how many players missed entire seasons or were injured in non-contact drills/practices; never happened! why now?
