Bell for Bell at RB?

The Eagles are slated to work out running back Joique Bell Monday, a Buffalo Bills practice squad player, according to a team source.

Another report had the Eagles signing Bell, but that has not happened -- at least not yet. If the Eagles are to ink the 5-foot-11, 220-pound rookie they must add him and subtract one player from their 53-man roster.

Mike Bell is currently second on the Eagles depth chart at tailback, but he has struggled during his short tenure in Philly. He didn't have a carry in the opener, although he did have a nine-yard gain negated by a holding call. On Sunday against the Lions, he ran four times without gaining a yard.

Bell missed much of training camp and the preseason with hamstring and ankle injuries. When he did return and played in the third preseason game against Kansas City he accumulated just 13 yards on seven totes. He's also had trouble picking up blitzes in the backfield and doesn't have a single reception.

Bell, after a productive 2009 season with the Saints, was the only restricted free agent to switch teams last off-season. Eldra Buckley is listed behind Bell on the depth chart, although Buckley is primarily a special teams contributor.

The Eagles lost some of their running gusto when fullback Leonard Weaver tore his ACL in the opener. The team added fullback Owen Schmitt on Monday. He had two catches against Detroit.

Joique Bell is an undrafted rookie out of Division II Wayne State. He fared well in the Bills' first two preseason games, running for a combined 100-plus yards.
