So the 8-8 Eagles have so much talent they can give away their starting corner for nothing? Now they can use the seventh round pick to draft his replacement?
This is a joke. The Falcons have a better team and they help them out? Wonderful.. Ssteve115
I never got why they wanted to trade the ONLY playmaker they have on defense. So they trade him for nothing??? Lurie needs to get his head checked for allowing this nonsense. I am tired of Reid thinking he knows more than everyone else. TIME FOR A CHANGE! get rid of OBAMA and OREIDA Wise_Owl
This trade was a joke. Two things stand out wrong here, first a 7th round pick for an All Pro cornerback in a pass happy league, 2nd, Made a team stronger that you may have to beat to get to where you want to be, the Superbowl. Now, have to spend a high pick on a corner to replace, what was a strength on the team and a weakness on our team at linebacker and D Line, or the possibility of drafting the best player went out the window. Nice move. Dauber48- par for the course really. dumber then drafting Jerome McDougle in the 1st round ? I dont know. Paying 60 mil to Stacy Andrews ? Vince Young ? Steve Smith ? releasing Babin for no money so re-sign him for 40 mil after he plays for someone else for a year ? Who has made all these decisions ? Andy, Joe, and Jeff...with an interchangable GM Heckert/Howie who has no real power. The problem is the joke of an owner/movie producer that knows NOTHING about football and has his account buddy acting as an NFL gm, who also knows SO MUCH ABOUT FOOTBALL that they employ one of the DUMBEST MORONS COACHES AND ASSITANT COACHING GROUPS IN THE ENTIRE LEAGUE. MORONWIG, RORY SEGREST, CASTILLO TO DC ??? and Andys 60-80 passing that has not resulted in ONE CHAMPIONSHIP, EVER. NOT ONE. SHOCKING. MORONS RUN A TEAM AND GET MORONIC RESULTS. IF YOU DONT SUCCEED THE FIRST 13 TIMES, TRY AGAIN AND TRADE YOUR BEST CB FOR A 7TH ROUNDER. P A T H E T I C THE ENTIRE GROUP SHOULD BE FIRED NOW. SELL THE TEAM AND GO BACK TO MAKING MOVIES JEFF.
Asante told the truth: that the accounting firm of Banner, Roseman and Reid were playing fantasy football last season. That was his ticket out of town. The new Gold Standard: 8 and 8 seasons. hunglikeaton
personally.samuel ,came here, on the lure of the money.and he's had some good games, and some awful ones.ok its over.the front office made the mistake of bringing him in,and now they dealt him,for a 7th round pick.hopefully, if theres anyone left, they should get some o-line help. t_darb_56
Lots of knee jerk reaction here with no real good solutions offered by most. You all are lucky they flat out didn't cut him. They save $10M to sign Shady long term. They no longer have defense alignment issues - the starters are who are they are now. And...save a couple of exceptions...one thing they have proven in the Reid era - is they know when to get rid of players. For all of you know it alls who think they could have done something different and gotten more for him - the market was what it was and that's what the guy was worth. Maybe that should tell you something. jfisher0001- uh, actually no thats not accurate, at all. They had a deal LAST YEAR to trade Assante to detroit for at least a 3rd rounder, if not multiple picks, Even if not Detroit they could have gotten a 4th round pick or better from almost any team in the league at the time. But instead they hold on to him, keep three pro-bowl CB's and even with that they manage to blow 5 4th quarter leads and go 8-8, and now they spent so much they have to trade him and only get a 7th round pick. There is no way to sugarcoat the stupidity invovled of the entire 8-8 fiasco and the decisions made that got them to this point. The entire group needs to be replaced including Lurie if he allows it to go on more then one more year. Thier strategy is all in all a failaure and no better then any other team at winning a superbowl, and actually 10 different teams have won superbowls in the last 13 years and Andy Reids Eagles have not been one of them. and in the last 2 years they have been about 20th in the league in many areas or worse, and 11 other teams have won more games in the last 4 years. It equals mediocrity, that will NEVER win a SB with one of the most over-rated head coaches, and clueless CFO/GM's in Joe Banner. NEVER.
Wow what a gift for my Falcons. I had to come and personally thank the Eagles for this trade. I'm still blown away, and I say this in good humor. I cannot believe how idiotic the Eagles front office is for this trade. We Falcons get Samuel for a 7th round pick? OMG This is hilarious. We are going to go HAM on the Eagles again this year, but the victory will be that much more sweet than just beating Vick as we love to do in Atlanta. THANKS EAGLES! Bwilson29
dude it happens we just stole demarco ryans. It was about money thats all. Lambo1
Playoffs? Playoffs? sammydelphia
The same idiots whining here about giving up Samuel are probably the same complainers always crying that Samuel won't tackle. Make up your friggin' minds. The Eagles made a bold move to dump him to make the secondary better. makrom
You morons, they were gonna cut him. At least they got something for him, and saved themselves the 2 million dollar cap hit. did you all forget that he did not tackle? He was a selfish gambler who did not play db the way the new Eagles defensive coaches want their db's to play....press coverage. blaqjaq
This was a shrewd move. Shave 10 Mil and no cap hit. Samuel is over paid for what he does. rustypop58
People team has two cover corners better than samuel. They need a corner to play the slot, which means being a good tackler, DRC and Samuel are not good tacklers, so it came down to keeping the younger and better cover corner. There are a couple corners that can play the slot in the draft, and that's what the eagles are counting on. Yes a seventh round pick is not what you're looking for, but that's what happens when you're not in the stronger bargaining position. Also frees up money for shady... Only way Reid looks bad in this case is if Asante plays three or more strong years in the NFL and DRC flounders. Niether of which is likely to happen. Not a shrewd move, but what needed to happen roseyx0129
