A second Eagles player suffered a season-ending ACL tear when linebacker Jason Phillips went down today at training camp at the NovaCare Complex.

Phillips was placed on Injured Reserve and the Eagles signed undrafted rookie Travis Long, who played at Washington State. The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Long played more outside linebacker than inside in college.

Phillips, signed as a free agent this offseason and expected to help out as a reserve inside linebacker and on special teams, suffered the injury during a special teams drill. It was unclear if there was any contact during the play. He was able to get up and walk initially, but soon had to be helped to the trainer's table.

The 27-year-old Phillips was visibly upset. He was eventually carted in and after an MRI was found to have torn the ACL in his right knee.

Jeremy Maclin tore the ACL in his right knee on Saturday during a non-contact 7 on 7 drill. The wide receiver's season is over. Maclin's and Phillips' injuries occurred on the same field at the Complex. The Eagles have been using two fields, recently sodded, for most of their drills

Maclin has yet to be placed on season-ending Injured Reserve, but the move should happen within the next few weeks.

With Phillips out, Jamar Chaney, Casey Matthews and rookie Jake Knott could have a greater chance at making the roster and earning some playing time.
